Film Reviews: Almost as much an art piece as a film, Canadian experimentalist Guy Maddin’s playful homage to vintage musical melodrama and screwball comedy is visually inventive and initially amusing but becomes somewhat wearing in its cacophonous eccentricity. Seems unlikely to break far beyond the director’s customary niche.
