Business News: GE, Viv U unveil plans for new conglom General Electric and Vivendi Universal Wednesday formally unveiled plans to merge NBC with Vivendi Universal Entertainment, creating a $43 billion entertainment giant that should be up and running by the middle of next year. GE vice chair Bob Wright described the new behemoth as "cleaner" and more profitable any of its competitors.
