Legit Reviews: Avery Brooks makes his grand entrance as King Lear down the aisle of the auditorium to the stage, where a royal celebration is going on with joyous chanting, dancing and drumming. It’s a bold choice to present Lear in these early scenes as a peacock in winter, but it ultimately fails to fly in a production guided by a disconnected concept and uneven execution.
