Los Angeles: Nothing about punk revivalists Green Day has ever felt wholly original. The band’s "American Idiot" crafts a reasonable story that tackles love, the Iraq war and suburban disillusionment. Like much of their work, it’s a convincing album and a sign that Green Day has the potential to stay ahead of the trends and still thrash around.
