Variety - Cop drama "Straehl" seems to think it's in the hardboiled spirit of "Serpico," but plays more like a throwback "Baretta" transplanted to contempo Zurich. The hero even has a novelty pet, this time a piranha instead of a cockatoo. Cliched and overbaked --- but in a fun way --- pic's drugs and violence plotline could lure younger auds in Switzerland and Germany for short-legged run and then quietly retire from the force.
