Los Angeles: Words are used as lethal weapons in "Fiction," a slashing drama by prolific Seattle-based playwright Steven Dietz. The witticisms, clever as they are, rain down with such torrential persistence that they wash away much of the substance in Dietz’s story about a literary couple facing a life and death crisis. Excellent portrayals keeps the first act afloat, but there’s no satisfying payoff in the second act, leaving the spectator hungry for more dramatic clarity.
