The Corsican Investigation

Nov 14, 2004 12:00 a.m. - Variety.com

Film Reviews: When mild-mannered private detective Jack Palmer (Christian Clavier) heads from Paris to Corsica to let a certain Ange Leoni (Jean Reno) know he’s inherited an estate, the gumshoe’s rational, city slicker ways get him nowhere fast in "The Corsican Investigation." Purely local, crowd-pleasing fluff is distinguished by its deadpan send-up of Corsica’s tight-lipped behavior, distrust of outsiders and fierce pride, set to Alexandre Desplat’s affectionate faux-James Bond score. Pic, adapted from a popular comic, has done tasty local biz since October release.
