This is a guide on how to make your own crossbow. Dont expect to make this in 5 minutes, this will take about 1 hour in total, but you will have endless hours of fun with your homemade crossbow

-Wood Piece (size depends on how big you want your crossbow to be)
-Metal bands (at least 30"(3" in hight(see picture)))
-Metal Wire (I used brake wire, works very well)
-Metal Rods (for trigger system*optional*(hight of your piece of wood + 3"))
-Drill
-Saw
-File
Directions
1.Take your piece of wood and saw a 3" cut in the front 3" away from the tip.
2.Take your metal bands and cut one 18" in lengh. Now drill 1 hole on each end of the band(see picture).
3.Place the metal band in the saw grove you just cut.
4.Attache the metal wire to the two holes in the metal band.
5.OPTIONAL but recommended: Drill a diagonal hole through your piece of wood 7" behind the metal band.
Take your metal rod and ben the tip about 45 degres.
Place into the hole.

Ammunitions
1.Practise ammunition: Shishkabob sticks.

Jun 10, 2005 7:25 am - To make any form of crossbow or regular bow, you need a specific type of wood. The wood must be really flexible, I cant remember which type of wood, but you cant use any old wood as it would snap, crack and brake.

Jun 10, 2005 4:52 pm - sweet, would medal rulers work good for the bow, and i just put this really good trigger system of a crossbow on my site, it was the midevil style.
Jun 10, 2005 6:50 pm - dude count chocola thats a realy nice trigger system but it took me a while to disyphere the picture... ima try that right now and btw i dought the metal ruler would work unless its realy good qulity:)
Sep 09, 2005 10:46 am - Nice work! This is somewhat how I planed to make mine. The only difference is that I thought about using a leaf spring insted of a metal band (Theres always some dumped trucks around were I live)
Theres also a number of trigger options. I like the simple old thumb design (I might put an egg up about that)
