Ok thyis is The COMPLETE guide for spud guns. Ammo, Fuel, Ignitors,ect.
Fuels
------
Ok, Fuels are very, very "picky" Its hard to mix and get the right amounts of fuel into the chamber. And its better to have too little then too much. But the best are...
Propane
Propane is really easy to get and its pretty chaep. The fuel and air mixture really doesn’t matter. It’s the easiest to use because it takes a few seonds and your ready to fire. Highly Reccomended.
Frebreeze
This is a bit tricky to measure out. Bu it works. Some o the aerosol does and some doesnt work as well. So be careful. I’ve used the one in the pump and it worked pretty well. Reccomended 2nd best.
Hair Spray
My 2nd least favorite. I would NOT reccomend this. It gums up thje whole inside of your gun. And its really hard to measure and messes up the ignitor easily.But its ok if you have no other fuels. Not reccomended.
Deaoderant
Some of it works really well. Pretty hard to get the right amount, but if you get too much, let it sit for a while and try again. But does gum everything up. but if you wipe it off once in a while then your fine.
Tag
DO NOT USE! This is by FAR the worst. I used it for a day, maybe 25 shots. I looked at it 2 days later, the ignitor (lantern ignitor) was COMPLETELY rusted. Its and oxidizer. It took me an hour to get it cleaned off and usable. Not reccomended at all! (but Ax is ok.)
Starter fluid/ether
This stuff is powerful, yet its the hardest to measure out and HIGHLY combustive. so be very careful. And its very powerful. Reccomended.
Ammo
----
Ammo is the most important part of the gun.
Potatos
These are obvoiusly what work best. But there are almost ulimited possiblilities.
Apples. The are basically the same.
Dirt...For some odd reason, i heard of soemone shoving the barrel of their gun in the ground and shot dirt out, this is the stupidest thing ever,1 there is no cance of exess air escaping, and 2 it could combust wrong and explode on you..which isn’t good.
And for the love of god, don’t attmpt to make an explosive round. Beucase if something goes wrong and it doesnt shoot. Then there are going to be chuncks of PVC flying as fast as a bullet.
And its impossible to make a "flaming round" without setting it on fire because the combustion only last for .8 seconds. The heat wont catch it on fire even if its doused in gasoline.
But one fun thing to to is make it jut go boom. By using blanks.
Balloons
These are awesome because no air escaped and the combustion gets really loud. Great for the 4th of july.

There are many, many, MANY types of ignition systems possible.
Stun gun

Stun gun is the BEST ignition system EVER, works every time. They are about 30$ on the internet.
Lantern Ignitor
This is the cheapest and 2nd best. Its the easiest one to install and replace. They are only about 3 bucks max. and the flints are about 1.99 for a pack of 6. This is what I use.
BBQ ignitor
I wouldnt reccomend it, but if If i had to, i would reccomend mounting in on the scre off cap for easy acces and have a wire coming from the ground to the hot wire, and tape it over si its about an eighth of an inch obove the hot wire.
Oct 08, 2006 11:16 pm - a way better thing to use then spuds are rocks about half as big as the barrel but with a double page of screwed up newspaper down the barrel as wadding. these are very fast, also they have a lot harder impact on a target. if you include the extra weight but the slower speed of it, (dont send me a holeheap of flame) but i reccon it would be as dangerous as a 22. cal from close up.i know this from a fact because i went to a farm overnight and this guy had a 22. rifle and i tested both of them at a rock. around the same amount of damage

wit my spud gun i made a screw link at the end of the barrel (just befor the chamber) so i can change the barrel size!!!!
i had a 100mm chamber goin to a 40mm barrel! i was shooting 200m plus.

(like that one what is compressed by a compressor, lead into a prssour chamber, then lead with high pressure into the potatoe canon, not really good in fact but it doesnt need any fire or ignitig, and it doesnt need any stuff like febreeze or butan or propane or methan...)
