There has been alot of confusion about napalm and creating it on this site i took the liberty of clearing all of the confusing up ....

what is it ?

napalm is a powdered chemical composition combined with gasoline and some other petrol products to create gelled gasoline napalm.
Note: the napalm is the powder before it is added to the gas not the final product.

How is it used ?

Some forms of napalm was shot out of flamethrowers and other was combined with other high heat chemicals in bombs creating devastating results

Where was it used ?

mostly, napalm was used exspirimentaly in the Vietnam battles but mostly at the very begining of the war because truthfully its not very useful. It was later abandoned because although it was very good at confusing the enemy it just did not kill them efectivly, If hit directly with gelled gasoline a soldier usually did not feel it because as the fire passed over his skin it burrened the nerve endings thus elimination all of the pain.

Myths about napalm

1by melting foam into gasoline you can create gelled gasoline .

False this just gives gasoline a sticky but toxic coating witch does not burn it only melts. when light this mixture of foam and gas the plastic slowly melt away reveling more gas to the fire alowing it to burn longer and in theory it is very similar to gelled gas but it is not by any means the same ...
The REAL NAPALM synthesis :
25 grams of cocoanut oil fatty acids ( = Lauric acid ), 12.5 grams of naphthenic acid and 12.5 grams of oleic acid were melted together and added to 1000 cc ( = 1000 ml ) of water containing 11.5 grams of 95% powdered sodium hydroxide . The solution is heated to 150 °F ( = 66 °C ) and stirred for ten minutes. 5 grams of activated carbon are added and the stirring continue for five minutes. The solution is then filtered and the clear filtrate is cooled to room temperature. 10 grams of a diatomaceous earth sold under the trade name “ Celite ” are added to the cooled, clear filtrate. 37 grams of Al2(SO4)318H2O ( = Aluminum sulfate octadecahydrate ) are dissolved in 100 cc ( = 100 ml ) of water and then slowly added to the clear filtrate containing the “ Celite ” . A Napalm Celite mixture precipitate. This mixture is filtered and transferred to a beaker with clean water and 5 grams more of Celite added with stirring.
The mixture is filtered and the filtered cake washed and dried in an oven at 50 °C.
The final product is now obtained !

so as you can see it takes much more to create military napalm powder than just melting foam into gas .....

2 Napalm or gelled gas can be lit with just the touch of a match ....False by no means it napalm easy to light it is one of the most stubborn chemical formulas known to man ...although once lit gelled gasoline it hard to put out even with modern day fire exstigushers some forms need to be lit with thermite which burns somewhere around 30,000 degree I belive ....this means that first the thermite needs to be lit with a manesium strip also futhering the difficulties.

so in conclusion, most people, although not it any way meaning to cause harm ,are wrong about things they herd or read somewhere......do research before posting things......

REAL napalm ignites when in contact with oxygen... they had to store it in airtight drums of oils etc to stop it from exploding until an air raid on an area..

Yes you are verry correct but there are many types of napalm made some exsplode with motion and others need certain chemical reations to burn it all depends

No there hasnt. The polystyrene/gas mix is widely known and works fine. Sure, it might not be the real deal, but its by far the easiest, and its all youll ever need, unless your planning to take over one of those looser communist countries.

what im saying is that naplm is a powder and if you gonna call gelled gasoline napalm then you will be wrong. People need to get their fact correct before posting things....the confusion is not that foam does not work but what naplam is by definition

napalm

Organic compound, the aluminum soap or salt of a mixture of fatty acids, used to thicken gasoline for use as an incendiary in flamethrowers and firebombs. The thickened mixture, itself also called napalm, burns more slowly and can be propelled more accurately and over greater distances than gasoline. When it comes in contact with surfaces, including the human body, it sticks tenaciously and continues to burn. It was developed and first used by the U.S. in World War II. Its use in the Vietnam War became highly controversial.
