How to Sleeve PC Fans
Supplies:
Braided Wire sleeving(1/4 inch)
Sleeving
Heatshrink Tubing(1/4 inch)(available at many hardware stores, but Fry’s has good prices for it)
Heatshrink
PSU sleeving kit(if you feel the urge to do your hole PSU)
Safety Pin
Lighter
Computer Fan(This was the biggest unsleeve fan I had)
Case fans
Scissors(not pictured)
Step 1: Take the safety pin, and push down on the metal tabs in the fan connector, and push them out.
to
Step 2: Slide you cable sleeve onto the wire
to
Step 3: Slide 2 pieces of your heatshrink onto the cable sleeve.
Step 4: Position the heatshrink to where it rests over the sleeve and the wires, like so:
Step 5: Using the lighter, heat the heatshrink until it shrinks as much as it will, but be careful not to burn/melt it or the wires.(alternatively, you can use a strong hairdryer or heat gun, some people also use a soldering iron)
This is what it should look like after it has been shrunk.
Step 6: Slide the connector back over the tabs, use one of the pictures as reference of the order in which to put the wires.
My finished product:
Fin. |

 | Jul 10, 2007 11:45 pm - wow you really wasted 50 points on this, but if you really need to look up how to do this then you shouldn’t be taking apart a computer. Idk 2* and that’s being very very generous. |
