The Purse
There you see her, talking on her cell phone oblivious to the world. Her purse is dangling beside her, still open to world from where she opened it to take the phone out. What do you do? Thats what this guide is all about.
A "moll Buzzer" is a type of pickpocket that only works with women. A woman is a better mark than a man since her wallet is not normally touching her body, or even on her (shopping carts, back of chairs, strollers, in desks, etc.). Being a moll buzzer is a great way to start yourself out being a pickpocket, working your way up to being skilled. This egg will give you the basics for removing the wallet, and then some schemes to pull it off. This guide will help you relieve a distracted woman of her wallet, but dont feel guilty about. This is business, not personal you are teaching her a valuable lesson, and that is to watch her belongings better.
Just incase you dont know, the term "mark" is used to name for the potential target.
NOTE: I do not in any way advocate purse snatching (by this I mean running up from behind and ripping the bag off her shoulder. That is sloppy and dangerous you might as well be a mugger. Purse snatching doesnt require any skill at all.) However, dont confuse purse snatching with opportunity pickpocketing, where you find a bag unattended and take it.
First off, the basics
Pickpocketing is a game of not only skill and stealth, but of DEVERSTION. You dont have to have fast hands (but it helps) as long as the marks mind is on someting else. In a crowded room
or elevator a woman will be thinking about many other things rather than who is beside or behind her. A simple bumb and now her wallet is in your pocket. Most people never think twice about when that person pressed up against them, or bumped into them and that is the key to pickpocketing.
First off BLEDN IN! Dont be easily noticible in a crowd. The more you fit into a crowd the harder it would be for someone to reconise you, or that you bumped up against them. Dont act suspiscious, and never run unless you have to.
The best mark is a woman alone with a dangling purse from her shoulder, preferably with her purse flap open or unzipped. With the bag behind her gently feel for the snap (if it is still latched) and unfasten it, using your thumb to mask the click. The bag will drop slightly, but this is okay. Most women wont notice this, and the contents are now loser in the bag. After that gently, but quickly slide your hand in and feel for the wallet, which should be easy since they are usually leather. Grab it with your index and thumb (the picking fingers. To strengthen them for a lift try putting tight rubber band around them and work opening and closing.) And gently slide the wallet out. If you have a partner pass it off, or just tuck it in your pocket and walk away.
A zipped purse is no big deal if you take your time and are careful. First gently grasp the zipper with your thumb and index finger and pull back as quickly and gently as possible. For this type of lift try and have a coat over your arm to mask your hand. Practice unzipping things at home so that you can get used to doing it quickly, quietly, and with out disturbing the mark. After the bag is open just dip into the bag and remove the wallet.
A backpack purse is a pickpockets dream come true. The valuables are complete out of the marks sight and usually right in reach of someone behind them. The only draw back is that sometimes the bags are larger and its harder to find the wallet. Press up against the mark from behind and gently unsnapp or unzip the purse, and remove the wallet.
If your mark should have a shoulder bag or a clutch purse the best idea is to use a razor. Stand behind the mark and slit an opening into her bag, then remove the wallet and quickly walk off.
TIPS:
Here just a few simple tricks to help you along:
"Just going in for a minute"
Its late and she needs gas. To save time shell just grab what she owes and run into the station, leaving her purse in her car. "Ill only be a minute," she thinks. This is a pickpockets dream come true, and one that shouldnt be passed. True its an opportunity pickpocketing, but that doesnt matter. Time permitting, it is better just to snatch the wallet and leave the purse, but if you feel rushed then just grab the bag and leave quickly. Leaving the purse will give you more time to escape without her knowing you took her wallet. Always keep an eye out for this, because it happens all the time. This works at post offices, sporting events, day care centers, libraries, and sometimes just on the street when shes "just going in for a minute". Trust me, if you keep your eyes open it only takes a minute. If you should happen to notice a woman get out of her car and go in somewhere sans purse, casually stroll over to the car and look in the windows. If you only see a covered object on the passangers side floor, there is your target. Most women keep their purses on the passenger side, and if shes "Only going in for a minute" she may cover it up with a coat or something. Just open the door, grab the purse or wallet, and beat feet. Dont let the covering up fool you.
"The Restroom"
Heres a good one for the busy Christmas shopping season. Ladies (or guys with a female accomplice) you see a lady walk into a rest room alone. Follow quickly and see which stall she is in. When she goes in walk up to the stall and watch her feet. This is what youll see: as she enters her feet face the wall towards the toilet. Next her feet turn around and are now facing the door. What she has just done was entered the stall, turned around, locked the door and placed her purse on the hook of the door. You will then see her feet turn around again. She will no spend up to 30 seconds or so fixing the seat cover on the toilet. When she turns to face the toilet, reach over the door and take her purse off of the hook. You see shell be momentarily distracted while she puts the seat cover on so that it will be a perfect fit and not fall in (or as a lead up sit all the toilet seats up so shell have to put it down, giving you more time). While she is doing this, her back is to the door and purse. Now think back about the last time you used the toilet in a public restroom. Where is the hook on the door? Right near the top of the door, making it very convenient for some enterprising soul to relive the lady or her wallet. With her purse in your hand, you can do one or two things. Either quickly pull out the wallet from her purse and toss the purse back over the door into her stall. Shell hear the noise, turn around, and see her purse on the floor. By the time she realizes what happened her wallet is gone. The other option for our nimble fingered thief is to take the entire purse and place it into an empty carry-on bag or shopping bag that she has with her and quickly walk out and blend into the crowd.
"The Parking Lot"
Check out a local grocery store parking lot and wait until you see a woman by herself go in. Note which car she is in, then when no one is looking flatten her tire with a nail. Hang around (but not noticably) until she comes back out and then tell her you saw the nail in her tire. Shell toss her bag in her car and come look at it. While you are showing it to her have your partener casually walk by and take the purse. Dump the bag in the nearest dumpster and you and your buddy have some spending money tonight.
Another parking lot idea is this have your partener appraoch the mark and ask her for directions, distracting her from her bag. While she is looking the other way either snatch the purse or her wallet and walk off.
"Shoulder Surfing"
At an ATM machine find a mark and carefully watch her type in her pin number, then either lift her wallet or have a partener do so. Now you have her acess codes and the card as well.
"The Shoe Store"
Shes buying a new pair of shoes, but first has to try them on. She sits her bag down and begins to take of her shoes and put on the other shoes. This is your time to strike, either lift the wallet or grab the bag and make off with it.
"The Bus"
Carry a coat or jacket over your arm: Here is how this works boys and girls, if the coat is over your arm then no one can see your hand. This is a good thing as that you can get closer to your mark. Either just drape your arm, or cut out one of the pockets to slip your hand through. A sample of how this might work could be like this: A lady gets on a crowded bus and pays the driver with cash. She puts her wallet back into her purse and moves onto the bus. A man moves forward, jacket over his arm, looking out the windows as if his stop is coming up. He stands by the woman and carelessly drapes his coat over her purse as he catches his balance. She doesnt think much of this and pays no attention, while he reaches through the cut out pocket and lifts her wallet. He then gets off the bus with no one the wiser. This coat trick is good in a crowded area if you dont want anyone to see your hands.
"The Theater"
The group of people in front of you set down and begin talking. While they are distracted look down while pretending to tie your shoe and see if any of the women put their purses on the floor. This is a comno thing in theaters because the ladies dont wish to hold their bags. If so wait until the movie starts and then reach under her (or their if youre lucky) seat and grab the bag. Either take the bag and go, or empty the purse and leave it under their seat.
Bars
It seems like a no brainer but women who are busy drinking and partying won’t be paying any attention to their wallets. Its crowded and dark, perfect place for crims where eys can’t see.Women will heedlessly drape their purses over the back of their chairs or completly leave them to go out dancing on the floor. Simple opertunist can just walk in and take one at their leasure. The ones who do keep their bags may become drunk, making it an easy score to lift their wallet. This is ripe time to go for a lift, and here are a few tips to get into their bags. Have a partener apraoch the mark away from her bag and either ask her to dance or the time. While she is answering either of these questions this is when you either rifle through her bag to get the wallet, or just pick it up and walk off as yout frontman keeps her distracted.
Another helpful trick to relieve a woman burdened with to much cash is this. It is a varation of the old "opps, I spilt something on you" trick. Find a woman alone, or at least by herself for the moment, and find a way to incocently spill your drink on her. While you are hastily triying to help her, have your partener either lift the wallet or take away the purse. Fumble around with the mark so that your partner has plenty of time to do the job and then get away.
an 10, 2006 12:50 pm - this sounds odd, but if i pick my moms wallet, and give it back to her, shell say, you moron! and laughs at it. shell think its funny, so there you go, GREAT PRACTICE, also, you could pratice it on a buddy of yours...

J l 01, 2007 6:37 am - stealing from purses seems harder to me, wouldnt you be easy to spot because it takes so long to open the purse and locate the wallet?
