In this egg I am going to teach how to "edit your ripped psp games".

First of all you will need custom firmware to play them, look at my other egg "the psp....everything".

And for detailed instructions on how to rip your games go to this egg.

http://www.rotteneggs.com/r3/show/se/337701.html

By editing I mean, replacing the background soundtracks, in game speech, changing the cut scene clips, the intro clips, editing the games appearance on the home menu under game menu(the small icon, the background icon, the movie that plays when you select it, the blurb, the name and the background music) and

The basic idea is that you extract the game files, replace them with your converted files and recompile the iso

But I warn you, this is not. Repeat not. A simple process

First of all extract all the files and folders from within your psp is to a convenient location

I’ll be using the desktop

We’ll start with the simplest, changing the games appearance at the home screen under game.

There are five files in the location “desktop/PSP_GAME/"

These are

ICON0.PNG - the small preview icon

ICON1.PMF - the small video that plays when u select the game

PARAM.SFO - the games details, information, name etc

PIC1.PNG - the background image that displays when you select the game

SND0.AT3 - the background music that will play when you select the game

PIC0.PNG - the blurb picture (not all games have/need)

Editing Game Menu “Images”

This is the simplest one; you just need to know the dimensions

ICON0.PNG - 144 x 80

PIC1.PNG - 480 x 272

PIC0.PNG - 220 x 92

...and you’re away

Example...

Editing Game Menu Title

First you will need the program known as “PBP UNPACKER”

http://www.pdc.me.uk/dl/pbp-unpacker-094-setup.exe

Download and install

EDITING THE FILE

First of all open up PBP Unpacker and click open

Browse for your PARAM.SFO file

(for me it’s going to be in location desktop/PSP_GAME/)

Click on PARAM.SFO and then click open

A screen like this will pop up

Click on where it says title and then rename your game

Then click enter to save

Then click file up the top and then click Save to file...

Then click on PARAM.SFO so as to overwrite and click save

To edit the movie and soundtrack for the main menu you must first learn this.....

To put a song into your game you need to convert your song into .at3 format

Get Atrac3 codec and Goldwave Audio editor

-----Atrac3 codec

http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=2808&s=31

Extract the files

Go to the location you extracted them to right click on atrac3.inf and click install

Click ‘Continue anyway’

Then run atrac3.exe

If it sasy something like its already been installed that dosn’t matter just keep going

---Goldwave

http://www.download.com/GoldWave/3000-2170_4-10754826.html?tag=pdp_prod

Run the install and follow the prompts

Then open the application and click open

Browse to your song you are going to convert and click on it then on open ( i am going to be using Thirsty Merc - The hard way)

Let it load..

Then Click File, Save as

Then click the drop down box that changes the format you save your sound into, and change it to .WAV

Then click on the drop down box that changes its attributes and select one of the “ATRAC3” ones

Then click save

Now browse to where you saved that file to

And rename the file extension to “at3”

And confirm...

You have just converted a psp game compatible music track

Then to replace the ones in your game simply rename them and replace them, you’re all set.

Converting Movies

First up you need sony’s umd composer tools,

And just so you know these are illegal to have or to post links to but i am oging to tell you this, because I think I can, I’m not sure

Search in google “Umd Composer torrent”

And click the 4th option

And download the torrent,

Next use a torrent downloader program ( bitlord, bittorent, azeurus,) to download the files.

If no-one is seeding, ask me, ask me for a time and I’ll seed it at that time,

Now

Browse to your downloaded files

Browe to :/Umd Stream Composer/bin/

And run UmdStreamComposer.exe

up the top in the menu bar click File, new

Fill it in with whatever

Click next

Check these settings

Then click finish

Now click Video Source

Then click open

If your video you select shows an error then you need to prepare it

http://download1.pegasys-inc.com/download_files/TMPGEnc-2.524.63.181-Free.zip

Download, Extract and Run

Click Browse

Browse to your video you want to convert, and if it doesn’t show up because you’ve got it in some strange format use another converter to convert it into avi or mpeg

Click open

Make sure this option is selected

Click on settings

Make sure your settings are the same as mine

Click ok

Now click Start

Let it convert

Exit the program

Go back to Sony’s Umd Stream Composer

Browse for your converted file

If it then doesn’t work again there is one last option

Download http://www.afterdawn.com/software/download_splash.cfm

Extract and install

Choose complete installation, not custom

Now open the program

Click “obtain a license” then “start trial”

Now click the source tab, then the add file tab

Browse for your files you want to convert

A screen like this will pop up, click ok

Then click cut and edit

Here you can edit its lengths, cut bits out etc and if you click on the filters tab you.

Once your done go back to the clip properties tab and click ok down the bottom

Now click the Format tab up the top

Then select “avi” then click “select”

Make sure you have all these “exact settings”

Then click on the audio tab and make sure you have all these “exact settings “

Then click encode

Choose your output location then click start encoding

Let it encode

Then click ok and close the program

Go back to Sony’s Umd Stream Composer

Browse for your file and click ok

Click ok

Now click “run’ then “Encode + Multiplex”

It will take a minutes to encode

You can now close and exit the program

Don’t worry you don’t need to save or anything

Browse to “my documents”

Then to \\UmdStreamComposer\\MuxWork\\eber\\00001

(if this is your first conversion, if not it will be 00002 instead of 00001)

And you’ll see a file called 00001.mps

This file you now need to convert to pmf

Download http://fs05n2.sendspace.com/dl/5a72f1dc739a1763fed2738ca7e40457/47427e874dbe671b/pks5go/MPSTOPMF.zip

And extract the files to an easy location

Copy the 00001.mps file to this folder

Rename to gameboot.mps

Run the RUN ME.bat file,

Click any key twice once the dos box appears

A gameboot.pmf will have been created in that folder

You have just created a pmf (psp compatible movie) you can now go into your psp game you extracted and replace some of the videos with these, just make sure the file name is the same.

Now once you’ve completed replacing all you pictures, soundtracks and movies it’s time to recompile the game

Download install and then run Magic iso

http://www.magiciso.com/Setup_MagicISO.exe

Once open click “try”

Now drag the file from your desktop from the bottom window to the top window

Click file save

Select iso format, a destination, a name then click save

et it do its thing :P

You have Just finished editing a psp game :)

Now to play it put it in your ISO folder which is in the root of your memory stick

Go to your game menu on your psp and play:)
