Okay, I’m going to teach you a trick my friend taught me.
*note there will not be any actual screenshots of the visualizations as they do not show up in a screenshot*
What we are going to do is trick winamp into thinking that other windows are the visualization window.
How it works:
The Magic Colour:
31 parts Red
0 Parts Green
15 Parts Blue
or #1F000F
Dark Purple..
Okay well, in winamp there is a setting called overlay mode. Overlay mode replaces a colour with the visualizations, so where ever this colour occurs you will now see visualizations. The default colour in winamp is our dark purple above. The reason this colour is set to default is because it is a rare colour that isn’t used much.
For this tutorial I will be using Winamp v5.52 Pro.. the latest version
Set Up Winamp:
1. Open up winamp and locate to the select plugin screen (Options > Visualizations > Select Plug-in) or ctrl+k for shortcut.
2. Select the “Advanced Visualization Studio v2.81d” option and click start and then close the window.
3. Then locate the visualization window, right click and select “Dock in AVS Editor”.
4. A new window should pop up called “Winamp AVS Editor” then click settings > display.
Over in the right hand corner of the window you will see “Overlay Mode”
Check both the “Overlay Mode” and “Set desktop to colour” boxes then exit out of that (note you may have a save option, if so save first)
5. Now put on a song and minimize to the desktop and you should now see your wallpaper as visualizations! Once you exit winamp your background will revert to your normal one.
Apply To Msn (And other programs that support backgrounds)
1. Open up paint or your chosen program that is capable of working with colours.
2. Locate to the edit colour window (Colours > Edit Colours > Define Custom Colours) and input the RGB settings four our “Magic Colours. (31 Red, 0 Blue and 15 Green)
3. Now just fill the background with this colour and save it.
4. Open up msn and locate to your background selector and just browse for you file.
