Alright, you airsofters out there all probably want a decent way to remotely blow the shit out of some with bb’s. you’ve all looked for landmines or grenade launchers but they probably cost a shitload of money. i’ve developed a way to to do this for about five bucks.
Materials:
3/4 diameter pipe and near hermetic dowel rod(best size)
two x four piece of wood
two thick screws(about 1/4 to 1/2)
1/4 dowel rod or pencil
*important* spring that pulls things together
STEPS
1. Okay, so take your pipe and cut off a length about half of an inch shorter than the entire spring.
2. Take the hermetic fitting dowel rod and and cut a piece two inches longer than the pipe.
3. take the drill and drill a hole for one of the screws about one inch down the dowel rod.
4. put one end of the spring on the screw and screw the screw into the hole you just drilled. you should have something resembling this:
5. take the piece of 2x4 and cut to a length about twice as long as the spring(so the spring can stretch to its maximum
6. next drill a hole in the plank in the top left corner
7. put the dowel rod into the pipe to get this:
8. line up the muzzle of the pipe with the end of the 2x4 with the hole and duct tape it to the board
9. just like the other end of the spring, put a screw into the spring end and screw it into the board
opposite end:
10. drill a hole in the other end of the board slightly short of where the spring can reach without the dowel rod coming out of the pipe. stretch the spring back to this point and insert the smaller dowel rod or pencil in front of the screw to hold it there.
How To Fire: pull the dowel rod or pencil out. insert a tissue or cottonball to hold ammo in.
this will shoot about fifteen feet or more (with an eight inch tension spring)
To use as LandMine: instead of a penicl, use two four inch zip ties zipped in a loop to hold the spring. then use the pencil to hold the loop from the bottom of the 2x4. mount the mine pointing in a 45 degree angle. attach a string to the pencil and to an object across(tree) so when someone kicks the wire it pulls out the pencil, releasing the loop and thus, the spring.
Apr 14, 2008 3:55 pm - feel free to change this idea... you can easily mount this on a gun by using a thinner piece of wood. to mount on the ground to stay use one of these and a long stake and nail it to the contraption
Apr 14, 2008 6:35 pm - hell yeah, yeah, i 100% know what your talking about. "clunky" is EXACTLY how i felt about the way it was made. a coffee can is a great idea alhtough i’m not quite sure how well it will hold under the tension. that’s why i just decided to go with a 2x4
