Desolation Sound Marine Park, British Columbia’s largest, is a sea kayaker’s coastal paradise. The spectacular range of scenery, warm sheltered inlets, bays and coves, and abundant shellfish are what attract kayakers to this popular destination.
With the majestic Coast Mountains of the mainland rising from the waters of Desolation Sound we are continually provided with a portrait backdrop. Our kayak adventure begins from the eastern shores of Cortes Island, and journeys across Lewis Channel, towards the park and Mt. Denman, one of B.C’s most distinctive summits at 7000ft.
The days will be spent paddling amongst a maze of beautiful islands, up the narrow channels and inlets, hiking through the forests, and swimming in pristine fresh water lakes.
Desolation Sound offers the best weather on the coast; they don’t call this the "sunshine coast" for nothing. This is the perfect destination for spring and late summer adventures. |
