The name ’rock’ is somewhat misleading - Williamson is really many rocks in close proximity to each other. On weekends, the many climbers are also in close proximity to each other. Maybe I just need to go again during the week.
This is mainly a sport-climbing area, and IMO the routes are very over-bolted.

This critique is my opinion only. If you have comments or suggestions, or know of a really cool climbing spot you’d like to see listed, please mail me

The Good
many, many routes for climbers of all abilities
nice rock
The Bad
*really* crowded on weekends
bolt-o-rama
approach trail very poorly marked
must have NF parking pass
long, windy drive

Everything else
Dogs? Only if they’re in good shape and fairly nimble. The approach trail can be rough.
Restrooms? At the picnic areas on Hwy 2. Use a bush.
Food Availability? Nope. Bring your own.

Directions

From LA
210 Fwy to Hwy 2. North on 2 for about 1 hour (or until your butt goes numb), parking is on the left just past Eagles Roost picnic area.
