
 | Jun 22, 2005 12:49 pm - this is caused becaus rust ion OXIDE is oxygen traped in metal and aluminium burnes when it gets hot enought the only thing you need is 2 heat it up 4 the reaction 2 start ie the magnezium ribon that splits the iron and oxygen atoms then the oxygen makes the aluminimu 2 burn brighter and hotter.
thay use this on british rail roads to weld the tracks 2 gether it ges that hot it make molton iron.
my teaches at school use to do this as a deminstration until thay tryed it this once and it got so hot it melted throught the try it was in 2 heat proof mats and the bench it was stud on melting 2 inch in 2 the floor (there is a steal plait covering the hole noe) |
