History
I have searched the Internet for about...lets see... 5 minutes and haven’t found a thing on the history of spike strips so ill tell you what I know!:)
Modern day spike strips are now been used more often than ever by law enforcement officers. They used them for one main purpose, puncture the targets tires.
Law enforcement would place these on roads they thought the target would go through, when the target would go throw his/her tires would immediately flatten if the hit the spikes. Once flattened the car will enter a state of sudden loss of control. Once this has happened there are mainly 3 things the target will do:
1. Jump out of the car in fear and try to run away.
Consequence: Beaten down by police...
2. Come out peacefully
Consequence: Taken gently( for the most part:P) into custody.
3. Only good drivers will attempt this: Attempt to regain control of the car which only results in being rammed by a cruiser then taken down with force.
Many people have tried and failed to harness the mighty power of the spike strip but i have found the cheapest and most successive way of making one.
Enough of the uses Lets get to the good stuff!
Material
-Duck tape
-Nails(screws work just as well but the strip cannot be recovered after.)
-Penny’s lots of them!
Procedure
The following image should explain the following steps.
1. Take 2 equal length strips of duck tape and tape together *perfectly*.
2. Take nails/screws and push through the tape.( Don’t worry if the nails are loose i have encountered that problem and have figured out how to fix it)
3. Take another equal strip of duck tape and cover the *heads* of the nails/screws (the flat end for you no brainers)
Now for the weights
4. Take another 2 equal strips of duck tape and cover the *sticky* side with penny’s.
5. Take one more piece of duck tape *NOT EQUAL* must have 1" extra on each end.
6. Tape together the penny strips with the extra 1" side strip.
7. Take one more extra 1" side strip and use it to tape one spike strip.

Jun 20, 2005 6:59 am - Im not quite sure if this will work. Dare I ask if you have tried it!?
One thought is if the nails or screws would be flattened as the car goes over it, screws would be better as they have a flatter head, which will help to hold them upright. This could work better if you can develop a way of getting the spikes to point off in different angles.
Some of these things would be usefull in a chase, to get the cops off your tail!!! Worth having.
Jun 20, 2005 7:28 am - thats pretty good dom. the way the cops do it is tie a string to the end, put it in the grass on th other sid e of the street, and pull it under the tires as they go by

i didnt have any nails right that moment so i used something MUCH more expensive(like 5 $ for 10:/) this is what i used instead there called wire staples, there to place wires on the wall:
Jun 20, 2005 3:43 pm - I can see how the nails you used can work!!!!!! BUGGER, talk about over kill. That is a good idea on how to give the trap a better attack angle to apply more preasure to the tire. Nice egg.
