Ammonium Tri-iodide Poppers

Ok. This is my first egg so dont rate me bad if it sucks. And if its somewhere else on the site I’m sorry for reposting it.

What you need: Iodine crystals, ammonia, 2 cups(ones that you will throw out after), funnel, coffe filter, tissue paper, baking tin, cool dark storage place

What you do:
1. Make sure you work in a cool and dark area because this will explode extremely easily under light and heat.
2. Set up both cups on a surface that wont matter if it gets stained. In one cup put the funnel in it and then put the filter in the funnel(this will be used only in the end of creating the crystals) And have the baking tin ready with tinfoil over it and then how ever many 3 inch by 3 inch squares of tissue paper ontop of that to hold your poppers.
3. Pour how ever much iodine crystals you plan on using in the cup without the funnel set up. Keep in mind that a portion the size of a bang snap will make a large explosion and stain anything around it orange and will not come out without commet.
5. Pour in enough ammonia to go about a 1/2 to a full inch above the iodine crystals
6. Stir constantly for a minute or so until you start seeing thicker purple crystals.

IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO THESE NEXT STEPS BEFORE THE CRYSTALS GET DRY!

7. Quickly pour the iodine crystal/ammonia mix into the filtered funnel in the other cup so that all the ammonia drains out.
8. Then quickly scoop the crystals in equal portions on the squares of tissue paper. Make sure that they are not heaping(as you will need to wrap up the corners).
9. Now quickly pull the for corners together and twist them together. It should look like a stained bang snap now but leave them on the sheet.
10. Make sure you are in a very dark and cool area and leave it there over night.

Now your ready to use them
Caution these poppers are extremely sensitive to friction(enough so that a fly landing on it or an ant walking across it will detonate it) so when using these things lightly pick them up by the twisted tail and toss them at what ever you want to. KEEP THE POPPERS FAR AWAY FROM YOUR FACE AT ALL TIMES Again, beware, they stain alot. I’ve made a mistake in all of these areas in the past. I made them in our brand newly done kitchen with white cabinetry under intense lighting and it exploded in my face staining my eye and all the cabinets around it purmanently yellowy brown.
