When I was 12, I used to light up straws in order to make them melt and drip. I was amazed how fire could be liquid-like. So I started experimenting, and came up with a larger and louder version that is probably easier to make.
Materials: Plastic grocery bag, a stick (about 1 inch wide and at least a foot and an half long), and a lighter.
First, wrap the bag around one end of the stick, pole or whatever you’re using. Then tie the bag around the stick so it doesn’t unwrap. After that just light the bag and watch it star dripping. When the bag is totally on fire, every time it rips it’ll make a whistling noise, and make little lines of smoke. Hold this stick as high as you can, athe higher, the more it whistles. Just don’t let it drip on you, one time it dripped on my leg and I still have the scar today:D
*NOTE: try using more than one bag for a longer lasting fire

Jan 07, 2006 11:50 am - the noise is from the still burning/liquid plastic falling and creating pokets of ari than passing through and out of the molten plastic. i have always done this with styrophoam plates,cups and othershit.
Jan 07, 2006 12:14 pm - I did this with a plastic pen before, it’s actually really cool if you hold it near the ground, the flaming plastic drips down and then the fire ’jumps’ back up to the pen. It’s like, trippy. 5*
Feb 07, 2006 4:16 pm - i did that once when i was little and i still have scars on my hand from it... i hadta go to the er and like half the skin on my thumb and index finger fell off... it sucked
Apr 03, 2006 10:17 pm - What I like to do is put a piece of paper in the bag first, helps it burn better, then do the whole thing from at least 2 stories up.
