For any stand up hair style you’ll need the following..
-Blow dryer
-hair brush
-hair ties
-Elmers glue/any super strong hair glue
-Hairspray (Aquanet works well)
-Plastick gloves (optional)
-A bowl and mixer
-Adamant hair gel
-Extra help if it’s your first time
So first I will tell you how to do all over liberty spikes..
This is my friend, I did her hair up for her..
So first you need to seperate the hair. I normally start in the front and work my way to the back. Use the brush to seperate all the hair evenly, and then use the hair tie to hold the hair in the back away from the hair in the front. If you only have elmers glue, it will be messy but it will still work. Pour a moderate amount of glue into a bowl, your hands are gonna get too sticky to use the bottle. If desired, add some gel in with the glue, Adamant extra hold works well. You can purchase it at Sally Beauty supplies stores. Mixing gel and glue will let it stay up longer, and wash out easier in the long run.
Take first section of hair, put some glue on your hands, evenly distribute glue on hair. Start at the base and work your way up, if the base isn’t sturdy the spikes gonna fall down. Now have your buddy help you blow dry the spike while you hold it up straight. I’d say a minute and a half on each spike should be fine. Then you just repeat for each spike, depending on how long your hair is this could take anywhere from a half-hour, to 2 hours.
Now I’m gonna tell you how to fan out a hawk..
This is me, a while back.
So fanning is a bit more tricky than spiking.. There are two different ways you can do it. You can get a peice of cardboard, or a table, and a friend, or you can do it section by section, makes your arms tired, but works just as well..
If your using a table, you’ll need to lye your head down next to it so that your hair can be brushed on to it, and evenly spread out. This way is alittle quicker. You spray the shit outta your hair with hair spray, and blow dry it. It will most likely get stuck to the table, so your gonna have to pry your head off, and switch the other side. Do the same on the other side, and then when you stand up you’ll need to touch up with more hair spray, and the blow dryer.
If your doin it in sections, it might take forever, but eventually you’ll get the job done. You start from the front again, and hold up your hair so that its like a fin, spray the shit out of it, blow dry it, and repeat.. then at the end hold all the individual sections together and spray, and blow dry.
