Mini/Pocketsized PotatoGun that Works
ok here is a very simple designe for a fully functional hand held potato gun. you may have seen the post on a pocketsize combustion chamber and think that u could just use that, but i’v made one of them and since there is no cap that unscrews it casnt get sufficiant oxigen to ignight, so i’v redesigned it to fire potato bits, q-tips, and just about any thing that fits in it.
What u’ll need:
1 small to medium sized pill container (preferably with a screw on lid, because if it’s the kind that u have to line up the arrows, sumtimes the cap blows off, so a scew on lid will hold better)
1 highliter or pen.
1 BBQ lighter.
super glue
some electrical tape.
Instructions:
Step 1.
get all your stuff together. (dont ak me y thats a step)
Step 2.
use a pen to poke a small hole in the bottem of the pill container, then take the pen or highliter that ur using and take it appart so that ur left with the "shell" or hard plastic outer part, now stick the "shell into the hole in the pill container, and super glue it inplace. (it should only be sticking into the container a few millimeters)
Step 3.
poke 2 very tiny holes about a half a inch apart in the side of the pill container, now take apart the BBQ lighter and take out the sparker.
then glue the wires into the little holes letting them stick into the container a little (SEE Fig. A).
Step 4 (not shown)
using electrical tape, tape every thing in place (wires, sparker)
and ther u have it.
to use:
stick the barlle about a qarter to half a inch into a potato and bend the gun side ways to break off a peace of potato which should be logged in the barlle. now unscrew the lid then spray sum hair spray (or els sumthing flamible) into the chamber, then give it a blow, to make sure it has enugh oxigen (it only need to be about 10% spray and 90% oxigen to give a good shot). then when the cap is secure press the sparker and it will fire the potato about 20-50 feet.
Trouble shooting?
it takes time to get the mixture right, so dont give up and say it dosnt work, cuz if u did this right it will.
mabby ur not blowing in enugh air.
REMEMBER only a little bit of spray is necisary do not over spray!!!
mabby the stuff ur using as a ignition fule just isnt that flamible.
make sure ur sparker is sparking, when u look in there should be a spark that jumps from one wire to the other one, and make sure the wires arnt touching (see fig. A)

BANG!! Bottle (as loud as a fire cracker reuseably/easy to make
hey, a few days ago when i was trying to make my mini potato gun (link to mini potato gun page) i found that if u used a pill bottle (the kind that had the child proof lock were u had to match up the arrows) and plugged the barrle the top would pop off makeing a LOUD bang!
so i desided that this was kool, and now im posting my designe, I’V TESTED IT so u can all know that its not just some idea and that i dont know if it works, cause boy dose it work! its as loud as a fire cracker but u can reuse it tons of times.
What you need:
A pill bottle (the kind with the arrows taht u hav 2 match up)
A BBQ starter
A pen
Some super glue
Electrical tape
and some flamible spray
Directions:
Its preaty easy to make just take a look at my picture and u’ll probley get the idea. take the pill bottle and using the pen poke 2 small holes about 1/4 of a inch apart.
next take apart the BBQ lighter and take out the sparker, then place one of the wires in each of the holes in the bottle, then super glue them in place. Now put electrical tape over the wires so they dont short circute.
tape the body of the sparker to the side (or were ever its convieniant) of the bottle, and ur done.
To use:
Just open the bottle and spray some of the fule into it, then give it a big blow (for oxigen this is important) then snap on the cap and spark the sparker to fire. (i hold the bottle in my hands and i havnt had a problem but if ur chicken then u can place it on a table and fire it)
just make sure that the bottle ur using is NOT one of the clear plastic pill bottles, as they will shater.
i like to fire it right behind people cause if ur not ready it can be quite loud.

Feb 18, 2006 8:18 am - 4****, check your spelling and grammar, and i already knew this. this does work people, but dont blow into it. your breath is carbon dioxide, not oxygen. just shake it with the cap off so air goes inside it. also this works with a hilighter. i have an egg on it.

sorry about the bad spelling... i typed it up realy fast this morning. and when i said blow into it i dont mean press up lips up against the opening of the bottle, just give it a little blow a few inches away, the carbon dioxide pushes air into the bottle, or like u said u could just wave it in the air but i find this gets it done better. thanks for the good rateing

well the blowing ting never did work for me, and you couldve used microsoft word to check the spelling and grammar, but good egg
Feb 18, 2006 9:20 am - i tried taking one OUT OF a BBQ lighter. i put a BIC pen in the long metal part, moved the actual lighter all the way to the back. it worked, but it didnt shoot worth a crap
Feb 18, 2006 10:30 am - Ive already said this in someone elses egg, but I made just recently a mini potato laucher with a HUGE indelible marker (gutted), a paintball gun barrel, a gas grill ignitor, and some apples. It works fine once you get the oxygen:combustable ratio down. Take some time to check spelling, it will increase the rater’s opinion on you. Good egg nonetheless. 4*

Jun 18, 2006 6:37 am - Guys whoever said that there is no oxygen in our breath your wrong. When you exhale there is more then enough oxygen in there to bring back a non breathing person with mouth to mouth. And the air we breath contains only a small percent of oxygen, the rest is other crap. So breathing into it should work.
