May 10, 2008 8:54 pm - Fear and Loathing / Hunter S. Thompson Tribute Recently I have been reading up on Hunter S Thompson - He’s a very, very cool guy. He was an American journalist through the 60’s to 2005 when he died. He also invented a kind of journalism called Gonzo journalism. This kind of journalism actually involves the writer in the topic he/she is reporting rather then just watching and writing. It is what makes his stories so interesting. He has always been seen as someone for his drugs ( I cant blame anyone for that, He always did a lot of drugs) Behind the drugs he is a very smart man and I think many normal people think of him as a common junkie. I wish everyone could see how brilliant he is because he is not given enough credit for his amazing work. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is Thompson’s most popular novel. In 1998 it was made into a movie. I recommend the book (which is short for lazy people) and the movie. Fear and Loathing is about a crazy few days in Las Vegas where Hunter and his attorney do a ton of drugs while searching for the American Dream. If anyone hasn’t seen it - - definitely watch it -- all you stoners will love it too. May 01, 2008 6:03 am - LSD’s Inventor Died!! Albert Hoffman first synthesized lsd in 1938. He was the first person to try the drug too. He died on April 29th at the age of 102 from heart failure. Apr 15, 2008 8:32 pm - Quitting Weed I am 15 and I have been using weed on a regular basis for about 8 months now. I usually do it every day of a school week just to get me through the day. Now I am the grade’s biggest stoner and even my friends (who smoke a lot of weed) are telling me im doing to much. I know you guys will just laugh but could you try and tell me how you guys stopped (if any of u guys have). It sounds stupid and all but it would really, really help. I am serious about it this time too. I have tried to quit 2 or 3 times. This sounds like the regular BS you always hear from teachers and counselors and stuff, but truly there is no quick fix for any addiction. just don’t give up. finding another pasttime might help. maybe try working out on your own (weights/push ups/running) then try out for a team of some kind. pm me if you need any help. With heroin or coke, it’s a mental AND physical addiction, so if you try to stop those, you go through withdrawl and it’s pretty much hell. However, you only have the mental addiction with pot, so the only thing you’d have to put up with is feeling the need to light one up. Other than that, just make sure you aren’t around it at all.
