Ok, this is the first installment of a particular amount of eggs about various Customizations for your guitar...
This is for people who are really into guitar, so if this is not your thing, don’t bother spamming or flaming me. I have NO time for that...
Let’s get started!
This egg will teach you how to engrave/inlay your name or whatever into the headstock of the neck. Be wary though, you need good skills for this...
What you will need:
• Wood Burner (Can be found in Woodwork rooms, see picture)
• Good skills (see below)
• A blank neck headstock (can be found on eBay pretty cheap)
•Varnish
• Lead Pencil
• Very fine sandpaper
• Pieces of scrap wood
Ok. Before you even start on the neck, heat up the Burner. Get the scrap wood, and draw your design onto it. Now, keep practicing engraving your design on the scrap wood until your skills suffice the job. This is up to you how long you practice...
Assuming you have completed the above, proceed:
Before you do any drawing or anything on the headstock, take off the machine heads, but measure where they are postitioned so you know how big your workspace of the headstock is.
Once that’s done, lightly draw your design on the headstock, but make sure its legible (you can see it). Now, assuming your skills are perfected, burn the iron where you have drawn your design...
When you are satisfied with your work, leave it for about 15 mins... Come back, and give it a coat or two over the entire headstock. Leave to dry in a good area.
NOTE: Different woods vary, as maple is light, its legible, unlike rosewood headstocks would be more difficult to legibly engrave it...
PS: I WILL BE HOSTING PICTURES OF THIS EGG SOON...
And there you have it! Comment and rate well...
