Make an Awesome Blowgun
If you want to make a awesome blowgun, here is what you’re going to need:
Materials
Sandpaper
Two thick pens
3 lead pencils (will rubber on end)
120cm (47 inch) woollen yarn
3 pins with large head
36cm (14 inch) PVC pipe
Making the Darts 1. Get your pencil and remove the rubber part (including the metal) from the pencil without damaging it
2. Push a pin halfway through the centre of the rubber from the metal end
Cut 5 lengths of the woollen yarn at 8cm (3 inch) each
3. Cut 5 lengths of the woollen yarn at 8cm (3 inch) each
4. Take one length of yarn, find roughly half way on the thread and wind it around the pin once.
5. Repeat until all 5 lengths of yarn are wound around
6. Without letting go of the yarn, push the pin down as far as you can. Then use the end of the pencil to push the pin all the way in.
7. Next trim the woollen tail so that it is all equal
8. Finally pull apart all the fin thread on the yarn
Making the pipe (option A)
1. Find some PVC pipe, which is 2cm (¾ of an inch) wide and over 36cm (14 inch) long.
2. Cut the pipe so it is 36cm (14 inch) and sandpaper around the cut end, (So you don’t cut your self).
3. IF you want to you can paint it and decorate it with a spare dart.
Here i used some undyed yarn to tie on some red yarn and done the same thing as on the end of the darts. i have also used a brown crayon to make the pipe apear like wood.
Making the pipe (option B) i don’t have pictures for it, but this also works if you can’t find any pipe.
1. Get two thick pens so they are about even in thickness.
2. Take the pens apart so that all you have is two hollow tubes.
3. Simply tape these together. You can also paint if you want.
Tips: To make darts without a needle, cut the needle in half before pushing it into the rubber. These a are good for practicing on people.
Tip: You should be able to shoot up to 3 darts at once if you make a similar blowgun.

Apr 26, 2006 3:21 pm - 5*. Nice and detailed, but you should make the pipe 4-5ft. It will increase the velocity of the dart as it will have a lot of time to increase.

Oct 09, 2006 10:04 am - i just used a length of copper pipe that i had lying around for the blowgun and it worked fine - the PVC i had lying around was too thick for the darts
just another option to consider
