The Idea
Well, as some of you might know, magnets can distort TVs and monitors. I first found out about this when I was 8, which was 6 years ago.
You know those "singing magnets"? Well, most commomly these are neodynium magnets, or hematite magnets. Although both work, neodynium is the best.
Well, anyways, I bought a pair, and I started tossing them around. Then, while they were in my hand, I wanted to point something out that was on the TV. As soon as I get close to the TV, the colors mess up, and you can see the pattern the magnetic field creates. After I quickly took my hand away, they were still there.
I thought I was seriously fucked. I started thinking of a way to get out of my problem, and I thought of nothing. I decided I should come clean, and hopefully receive a lesser punishment.
I confessed to my mom, and she wasn’t to angry. Do you know why? Because the TV slowly demagnetizes. Even though it took several weeks for the damage to heal, it was a pain in the ass.
You know that "buzzing sound" you hear when you turn off the TV? That shows you it is demagnetizing.
Monitors are less sensetive to magnets, and also demagnetize faster.
Materials
- Strong magnets. Neodynium recommended. Electro-magnet is even better.
- A victim
How To
This should be pretty logical by now, but I’ll explain anyways.
All you need to do is to bring the magnets close to the screen, and hold them there. Now if you want to create the biggest possible annoyance, then magnetize the entire screen.
When I did it, there were only a few discolored areas. It wasn’t that annoying, but imagine the entire TV being discolored!
I’ll let this GIF I made explain, and show you. Note: I did NOT use strong magnets, because I did not want to screw up my computer’s monitor. I used a very weak magnet, however with a good neodynium magnet, the effects should be 10x as devastating.
It’s pretty cool how you can see the magnetic pattern it creates.
Even though it is a weak magnet, on an unsensetive monitor, it still leaves dark spots behind, even after the magnet is taken away.
The End
I hope you enjoyed my egg, and remember to rate fairly!
May 03, 2006 9:34 pm - common sesne and you can demagnatize a tv by unplugging it and then plugging it ack in. then wave the oposite end of the magnet over it. moniters have degauss mode if they are the kind you speak of to kill it.
May 03, 2006 11:07 pm - i stole some of those magnets that make noise form the costume room at school and i had one while i was sitting down at my computer and i held it literaly a foot away from the monitor and i could already see it discoloring, i want to see what happens when i put it directly on the screen of my school cops computer for a while lol
May 04, 2006 7:20 am - So your 14? But yea i bought a couple of those magnets from the stop called gordmons...idk it is a clothing store 4* for effort and the pics
May 05, 2006 1:39 pm - LMFAO on a back of a tv there is a little button that you press for about 10 seconds and it demagnotizes it straight away, this is only on old Tv’s because the new ones are always demagnitizing them selve’s
May 15, 2006 5:55 pm - I had some magnets near the computer a couple years ago, and they were weak so when my parents got back from vegas the screen was already demagnitized. My grandma gave me a pair of singing magnets too, so i’m all set. 5*****
