Some Back ground information

Dover castles secret tunnels were built in 1803 for underground storage and were left for almost a century as nobody needed them anymore. In 1939 massive rebuilding started taking place for WW2 and was converted in to an air raid shelter and later a secret military command centre. The tunnels expanded even more and were even used as a small hospital for pilots shot down in the straights of Dover (the sea)

The entrance had a gun with flat tyres

The gate way entrance to the castle

Cannons looking over the sea

A picture of the castle we were going to climb

A view from the top of the castle looking down at one of the entrances to the tunnels

Another view of the castle

A close up of the entrance

Another entrance taken from the top of the tower

Another close up

We decided to go to the entrances and see what we found. On the way we saw these buildings that were blocked up and apparently were used for holding ammunition

One of the buildings

The front

The other building had a big concrete trench dug next to it

The trench, I got another view without the fence but I couldn’t rotate it.

A blocked up lookout overlooking the sea

later on in the year we went out again and this time got a better look at the under ground tunnels

A Napoleonic bunker

A gun emplacement

Another view of the bunker

And finally an entrance that isn’t blocked up

Going down

So many passages

And back up again, this room had rifle slits in the wall

The exit

I’m not sure

what it would of looked like

A radio room were all the orders and signals would have been given out

The sleeping quarters

The signal room

The hospital

Well, that’s my egg. Hoped you liked it this took me ages so please vote fairly :)

Is anyone suppose to be in the castle? Because in picture 4 when it is looking down, there are people there

i’m beginning to think scarlett is right ( i usually do)
and why are in the the last picture the walls in wood?
i really don’t think that the army would ever take luxury underground, even if it’s a hospital

Raffiki, all of his pictures are linked from the same photobucket account. Although some of the names are inconsistent with those that would have been taken by a digital camera, I think they are real. That castle deffinately isn’t abandoned, but those tunnels appear to be.

Meh, it’d be cooler if you weren’t given a tour of it, and you just snuck in, and went in the "off limits areas", which is what is at the heart of urban exploring. But good pictures anyways. 3*.

Awesome photos but I must admit they look very pro so I was gonna ask if you took them.

Looks like someone else was found out by the the RE Gestapo.

oh btw your opening reads like a fucking travel guide
and the area is too well kept it looks like a fucking tourist attraction.
