----------------------------------------------------------------
1)What is Lucid Dreaming? Lucid dreaming is the conscious perception of your state while dreaming, this results in a much clearer ("lucid") experience. This usually enables direct control over the content of your dream. It has been defined by Stephen LaBerge, a popular author and experimenter on the subject, as "dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming."
2)FAQs about Lucid Dreaming Here is a list of frequently asked questions about lucid dreaming. any questions you may have, feel free to leave a comment or message me.
Why have Lucid Dreams? When people first hear what lucid dreaming is, they usually ask "Why should I want to have lucid dreams? What are they good for? and Why is it worth my time?" If you realize that once you know you are dreaming, you are restricted only by your ability to imagine and conceive, not by laws of physics or society, then the answer to what lucid dreaming is good for is either extremely simple. everything.
Can Lucid Dreaming Be Dangerous? A concern is that dying in a dream can cause death in reality. If this were true, how would we know? Anyone who died from a dream could not tell us about its content. The thing is, many people have dreams of dying and wake up alive. After awakening, they report having died in their dreams with no negative affects in their real life. Dreams of death can actually be insightful experiences about life, rebirth, and transcendence.
Can everyone learn how to have lucid dreams? Lucid dreaming is a skill you can develop, like learning a new language. Many people experience lucidity as a rare spontaneous event, but need training to enjoy lucid dreams at will. The best predictor of success with lucid dreaming is the ability to remember dreams. This, too, is a skill you can develop. With specific techniques, you can increase the quantity and quality of your dream recall, which will greatly increase your ability to have lucid dreams.
How long will it take me until i can lucid dream? The speed with which you develop the skill of lucid dreaming depends on many factors. How well do you recall dreams? How much time can you give to practicing mental exercises? Do you practice diligently? And so on. Really, what it comes down to is how much time and effort are you willing to spend on attempting to learn how to lucid dream?
3)Dream Recall This is, far and away, the most important factor of learning how to lucid dream. The funny part about it is, you could be lucid dreaming every night, but you just don’t remember it happening. In an 8 hour sleeping period, the average adult goes into REM (rapid eye movement, the kind in which dreams occur) sleep more than once. this means you have much more than just one dream per sleep. but think about it, before i practiced dream recall, i could barely remember one of my dreams per night, if even that. So i could’ve lucidly dreamt every night of my life, but i didn’t remember i did in the morning, so does it really matter?
4)Dream Journals There are many methods of increasing your dream recall, but the far and away cheapest, easiest, and most effective is keeping a dream journal. it probably sounds dumb writing in a journal, but without it, you won’t be able to recall your dreams nearly as well. So as soon as you feel you are awake in the morning, get out a spiral bound notebook, or any piece of paper and write down the entire content of your dream, or at least as much as you can remember. things i found that helped me to remember the dream as well as i could is to a)keep a notebook right next to my bed. b)keep the lights off when trying to remember dreams. c)close your eyes when trying to recall dreams.
After a while, this will become more automatic, and your mind will recall the dreams much easier and more automatically than when you start.
5)Dream Signs- How to Know Your Dreaming in a Dream While this may seem a little weird at first, if you think about it, it really isn’t. Dream signs are cues that you are dreaming, and are a standard way of inducing lucid dreams. A dream sign can be anything, from the normal to the abnormal. More often than not dream signs take the form of things or events that would be considered impossible in the real world. Some examples of dream signs that I have experienced are being able to breath under water, flying or taking unusually long jumps, oversized/undersized objects or people, and of course crazy and ridiculous things such as purple skies or bright green dogs. Dream signs are also sometimes more subtle like mechanical devices that don’t work (like a light switch), suddenly returning to work at an old job, being late (also very common), losing the ability to scream.
Here’s the weird thing though- if we are not intently looking for dream signs during sleep, we will accept everything, no matter how strange, as we would something perfectly normal while we’re awake. Quite obviously if you were allowed to analyze your dreams, the absurdness of some of the above situations would be clear. Even if you stop to question something in a dream you’ll usually become quickly distracted by something else and lose your train of thought. For example, it may occur to you that you shouldn’t be able to leap over the entire parking lot, but then it may suddenly dawn on you that you’re 5 minutes late for work and you’ll rush into the office, completely forgetting about your parking lot adventure. Within our dreams we generally accept whatever happens—we usually just go along for the ride. It takes training to spot and fully-realize the ridiculously odd things that happen within our dreams. You have to instill the idea within your head that if a blue dog should happen upon your path, it’s very likely that you’re in fact dreaming.
Locations can provide a quick and easy hint that you’re dreaming. For instance, if you’ve lived in New York all of your life but you suddenly find yourself in Japan tasting the local cuisine and speaking to locals in their native tongue, alarms should be going off and that little voice in your head should be asking, “How did I end up here?” If that little voice of yours cannot come up with a relatively believable answer, you’re dreaming.
Behaviour can also be a strong indication that you’re dreaming as well. For example if your friend, who is usually very nice, spontaneously decides one day to go out and start robbing banks with you as his or her driver, you’re probably dreaming. Perhaps at the time you’ll come up with a reasonable explanation for holding people at gunpoint while you steal their money, but in the morning you’ll be kicking yourself. Thus, it is extremely important that you train your mind to recognize these abnormalities and nonsensical situations, so that you can take advantage of them. Instead of casually noticing 8 feet tall pigeons strolling by the wayside, you should stop and say, 8 foot pigeons? Wait a minute, that can’t be right…I must be dreaming!
6)Recommendations for Things to "Lucidly" Do Some of my personal favorites, and some I’ve heard stories about include:
-Flying
-Explore your dream world
-Walk through things
-Jump into televisions
-Fight (it’ll feel like your playing a video game)
-Change the color of things
-Play sports
-Talk to movie characters
-Talk to people that have died
-Be someone else
-Compose music or poems
-Go through the story of a book or movie as one of the main characters
There are as many options of things to do in a lucid dream as you can imagine so plan ahead one time and think of what you want to do.
7)Conclusion So there you go, that’s all the information you need to have your own lucid dreaming experience. The best advice I can give you is to be patient, and don’t give up, it may take a while but it is well worth the time you put in.

Jul 04, 2006 4:02 pm - It actually works to copy and paste the whole egg. If it’s c/p, then it shows up on google with one entry. This is certainly not c/p, and this is very interesting to me. You earn a well deserved 5*’s to your egg and your group.

Lucid dreaming is also being used as a therapy for some psychic illnesses, like paranoia or depression. And it really works for that!

why the hell was this dropped? 5*****
Aug 11, 2006 11:30 pm - Infectious-MD your eggs are so original, so creative, and so spontanious. I have always wondered how in movies and books people dream like this. I’ve only ever had a dream like this once, and the whole dream was that I could control my dreams. I ended up doing a lot of crazy illegal shit, but it was well worth it. In the end I concluded that it wasn’t a dream, panicked and ran from the police officers.
Does the location in which you are sleeping make a difference? Or how deep of a sleep you are in? The sleep I was in was very shallow, I could sometimes be watching my cat and dream at the same time. I was on my couch, so the location may be a key point.
Anyways, your eggs are amazingly ingenius, they reflect your intelligence (as a doctor?) and also bring up your child like (not to be confused with chilish) manner.
I hope you continue to read, post, and make eggs on re and become a prominent member.
