Well June 10th was my birthday (1989) and I got the gift of going exploring the Dussault Foundry (along with a new stereo reciever) in the town of Lockport NY.
Built--Unknown (My personal guess would have to be atleast the 1950’s)
Closed-1990 (An explorer prior to me found invoices that dated in 1990)
It is not that big of a site with not too much in it. It still has some steel molds though which was cool.
Risks - Asbestos
- Rust
- Flooding
- Bums (I seen a bum sleeping outside of the building on my way out, no I didnt take a picture because I dont want a $200 camera getting snatched; I dont wanna unleash the "fury")
PICTURES ARE THUMBNAILS CLIKC ON THEM TO MAKE THEM BIGGER (For you fools)
--The outside of the buildings (2)
--Empty
--The bucket that could carry the moulton steel.
--Im guessing where they controlled the whole sha-bang.
-Here is your flooding problem.
--Just some pictures.
-I didnt walk up those stairs because....
--...these stairs looked like....
--This. Yes, the stairs were gone. My guess is sold for scrap.
Sorry for the blur, I didnt really take my time at this location.
GREEN!
--Looks like asbestos to me but I donno...
--These are the steel moldings.
--Parting shot for building #1
Their was nothing in building 2 so all I took were these 2 shots:
.........and there you have it. That was 1 of the 4 locations I explored that day. Expect more in the future.
Jul 07, 2006 11:21 pm - I realise that it is way better to just resize the pics to like 6oo pixels wide and post them directly into the egg. Posting thumbnails is too much of a hassle and most people don’t want to click them.
