Lock Picking
ok i recently made an egg on how to make proffesional lockpicks, here is the link for reference: Making lockpicks
but i did not inform people on how to use them.
Lockpicking is surprisingly easy. when a key is pushed into a lock the pins get pushed up.
the pins are split up into 2 parts.
the way a lock unlocks is when the key enters it pushes part 1 up above the shear line (top of the locks cylinder) which allows the cylinder to turn, because nothing is blocking it.
there are 2 ways on picking locks. 1 is picking, where you push the pins up individually and the other is raking, where you push the rake in slowly and pull out fast,in an attempt to get all pins at once.
in this egg im going to teach how to pick a lock not how to rake. only because my egg teaches how to make picks not rakes.
ok to pick a lock you need to put your tension wrench into the bottom
apply a little pressure but only enough to visble twist the cylinder a tiny amount.
correct tension is shown in this picture:
applying to much will make part 2 bind in between the shearline and to little will not bind part 1 above the shear line. so you might need to experiment and feel for correct tension.
now you insert the lockpick. you can either start from the back of the lock or the front, its personal preference. this picture shows the position of a back to front lock picking:
and now proceed to push each pin up one by one.
eventually part 1 of every pin will have been bound above the shear line.
an example of a picked pin:
when part 1 is above the shear line it leaves the cylinder free to turn with your tension wrench.
this is unlocking the lock.
you may have to pick the lock more than once, depending on whether your tension was correct, you got every pin. but dont let that discourage you, once you unlock it, it is a good feeling :D
these instructions may seem complicated but hopefully this instructional video i made will clear things up
Jul 16, 2006 12:30 pm - Good Egg This is one fucking brilliant egg it is worthy of a 5+ mate keep up the good work and maybe make an egg on raking and making rakes
Nov 21, 2006 11:37 pm - of course they are taken from somewhere else dumbass, do you really think i can explain how to lockpick with pictures i made from paint??? NO. fuck people on this site are getting dumber and dumber
Jan 06, 2008 8:38 pm - RAWR RIP DAT NOOB LOCK. Don’t individual pick those padlocks. If you perfect the ripping method you’ll have those open in about 2 secs no joke. All will be explained in my picking egg if i ever get around to it. 5* for being a good pick and not just jamming tools in and raping the lock with them. Btw on the picks, try making them shorter. I find that about 5-6 inches is all i need, with about 1.5 inches for handle. Makes them easier to conceal. Good egg tho and 5* onprophile.
