Jul 20, 2008 10:13 am - New System
I’m surprised I actually bothered to post this but I felt it was worthy of doing so, albeit lack of pics but more will come whenever I can be bothered to take them.

Recently I aquired 3 computers, 2 Toshiba desktop Win2000s, a HP Tower WinXP (phailed motherboard), 2 monitors and 4 keyboards (no mice though?). I jumped at the chance for getting these computers since my old crappy computer crapped out completely due to another motherboard phailure and the fucking HDD mysteriously massively overheated and caught fire!

I ended up being stuck with a pathetic Win98 laptop with less computing power than my wristwatch and barely enough RAM to boot up.

Going back to the 3 computers, I decided they still weren’t sufficent for anything I may want to do in the future so I decided that I would build a nice new mid-spec gaming system.
I have stripped out anything worth keeping in the HP computer such as the HDD and the DVD writer drive.
I’m Now Slowly getting things and the money together and I bought this Mother Board yesterday, I want a new case next and that will probably be hardest to choose. I would’ve kept the case I have now but It’s an ugly stock case and it’s PSU is a pathetic 250w.

I wouldn’t bother with cosmetics yet. Get the stuff you need to make it run well then bother with what it looks like. Keep the "ugly stock case" and just get a better power supply, then after the computer is all built and you have the money get the new case. I’m not trying to order you, I’m just saying how I did mine, and I never thought the whole getting a cool case first shit ever made sense.

I coulda swore someone else on this site made a forum topic relating to this board, unless it was you?

Well anyways, what kinda graphics card are you thinking about?

Haha thats f-ing awesome. I just bought 2 of those cards (Not from Novatech, though), and was going to suggest getting one. It does pretty much everything I throw at it, most of the time on high, or medium to high settings.

Just a note here. When you get the Power Supply, make sure you get one with +12V rails of at least 22AMPS. I would also suggest at least a 400 watt PS. I know it says a 350, but that’s what I had, and I was running it a max capacity with the card in, (I was also running the computer at minimal power consumption, I had unplugged everything I don’t use on a daily basis such as my second Optical Drive and 2 PCI cards.) I now have a 500, which runs everything with room to spare.

I’m too lazy to read. All I see is a computer case.
And what I will tell you. Mostly empty computer cases make good hiding places.

Well, you’re going to be a great contributing member. Ass.

I remember a virus someone came up with that caused that kinda thing to happen. It made your HDD spin at high speed when ever it was on and messed up the control of any fans, so after a while the drive would fuck up. I don’t think it was meant to make them catch fire, but I know there were a few cases of it happening.

So any updates on the computer/mobo/Video Card??

^nah, I only earn £22 ($44) a week so it’s gonna be a slow progress, I suggested getting a case 1st because they generally come with a CPU so it would save a little bit of cash.
after that I’ll get a new HDD or 2 and DVD drive then buy a copy of Vista to stick on one of them so i can at least use it to a basic extent, anything else i get after then will be more of an accessory apart from the graphics card and monitor set.

Mar 08, 2008 4:38 am - finally got homebrew runnuing on my psp
since i recently received my psp i have been trying to get homebrew up and running on it.

i haven’t been too succesful and managed to destroy the normal battery that came with it. by breaking it open to hard-mod it only to find that it’s 1 of the newer pandora-proof batterys. yes i could’ve soft-modded it but you need access to a homebrew-enabled psp and i don’t know anyone who does.

{the kit i received}
in the end i bought a pandora kit from http://pandorabatt.blogsp t.com
(link may not work soon as guy is moving to another e-address, page may hopefully be left up with link to new site) and it worked like a charm.

Cool, but that’s why I’m selling off my PSP. It’s annoying, and the fact that I don’t want to bother with it and it’s downgrades and upgrades to play freaking homebrew.

That’s why I’m using my DS now....
