It’s been a while since I have made an egg, but I think with all the problems RE has been going through that we need a new one helping some of the newer people out. I used the search feature many times, and yet I still didn’t find anything on this.
Hope this comes in handy for some people who are still confused and frustrated by RE’s high expectations.
Onto business:
How to: Make a good egg
Expectations Rules! Rules! Rules! Follow them! It’s not that bloody hard.
The following is 100% restricted.

Pictures Sometimes a must, other times appreciated. If you’re making a ‘How To’, then I can guarantee that if you don’t use pictures, the ratings will go down FAST.
Search!!!! Wow! O k. I can not stress this enough times. The search engine is there to help YOU, because I’m pretty sure weasel didn’t put it all there for his own benefits.
How-to eggs tell you, the reader, ‘how to’ create something. Simple as that. It can pretty much be ANYTHING.
Since it can be anything, people tend to get confused fast. Especially with those complicated ones. I.E: making a bow and arrow. Therefore, if they are not very detailed with step-by-step information and instructions including pictures… then it is very hard to understand and follow along.
NOTE: Add additional information when unsure about your own wording. And always list the materials first.
NOTE: Adding pictures also PROVES that it works. Why else would you make a ‘how-to’ egg teaching people how to make something that is NOT going to work in the end.
2)Computer/Hacking
Pictures are not a required feature for these types of eggs. It’s nice so you can become familiar ahead of time of the effects, or screens that you may encounter.
What is required is explanations. You tell us to run a command in a .dos or whatever applications, then tell us EXACTLY what to type, what to save the document as, what it does, and what effects are expected.
3)Exploration
Pictures are in fact a requirement. No pictures means no proof, and no proof means people won’t believe you, leading to INSTANT
*If you’re going to tell us to buy something, tell us what it does and why we should spend our hard earned cash on this device.
*Don’t ask us to email you ANYTHING! I swear to god jij, if I see another one of those I’m going to find you.
*Think! Before you post think if this is forums material. If it doesn’t even belong in forums (like if it’s a sad depressing story that no one cares about) then it should go into a blog.
*Don’t post questions... keep them in the forum.
*See above about following rules. Don’t post about bombs, animal cruelty, etc…
*Stories should remain in the forums unless you have pictures (pictures NOT found on google or any other search engine)
*Don’t post for attention. Me saying this will probably not make it stop, but at 2 in the morning retards think it is funny to post something about them being bored just for attention.
*Keep this in mind: Rotten Eggs don’t like myspace whores or attention whores…

Jul 25, 2006 3:13 pm - idk, i liked this egg because i wrote a decent egg... i think, and it had no pics so i got a relatively low score, but i think this is good. I dont like the whole "not posting eggs on how to make bombs" rule though.
