Here are some farely safe, farely simple experiments I have conducted involving fire and explosions, I hope you enjoy. Some of these would of been posted before but here are ones that I have actually tried and I have decided to put them in one egg.
First up: Easy, small and safe explosion. Good for people like me who dont have access to crackers and all that jazz.
Get a pack of Party Poppers, they may be called something else outside of Australia but they are the little things with the strings that shoot streamers:

Push the cardboard bottom of one of these in and pull the streamers out. Then, make sure that anything tying the string together, sticking out of the party popper is torn off (sometimes they have small yellow ribbons on em)so that you can then pull the small white explosive out from the inside (where you just pulled the streamers out from), if you have large fingers or are a bit scared of them blowing up in your fingertips (they won’t) you can just use tweezers if you wish.
Do this to one or several of the party poppers. Wrap them up in any paper, normal office paper will work just fine. Then take it outside and set the ball of paper on fire. You can just use your camping skills to set it ablaze, or, if you are as lazy as me. You can cover it in something flammable like metho or something. The explosion isn’t really worth the effort of getting something to set it a light so i suggest just settin the damn paper on fire. Once you have just step away a bit, no rush it will take aorund a minute for the fire to burn through the paper then through the popper. It should make a couple of small pops and will be entertaining for about 30 seconds. You can add little plastic toys in too, it burns em up pretty nicely.

And a couple of cans of spray-on deoderant:
Ok, find an area with no vegetation and is very much under control. Place the cans down, lids off, on there side (placing them up MAY give you a bit more time). Then cover them and some of the surrounding area in the metho, probably empty the bottle. Making a trail of it would probably be alot safer as well.
Light a match and drop it onto the puddle/trail of methylated spirits and run to a good spot. It will light up quite fast and the flames will be pretty high. It may take a couple of minutes but eventually there will be quite a large explosion. The flames will be extremely high and you wont want to be any where near it when it goes off as bits of can may shoot off out of the flames. After a couple of these explosions the flames will ventually just go out, I don’t suggest going to check it out anytime soon after the flames have gone out as the cans can still explode.
Fire Bottle: A neat little trick using deoderant or other araesol gas, a plastic bottle and a lighter.
Spray some deoderant into the bottle, a fair bit but not too much. Then simply light the gas just above the bottle. The flame should just sit above the bottle and rise when you squeeze it. Pretty cool looking, but not much else.
That’s it for now, I should be back with more soon. This took some time to make and it is my first egg, but rate how you wanna rate it, I really don’t care.
Aug 05, 2006 8:45 pm - try putting the firing bit from the party popper in the lid of the meth bottle. (make a hole). then tape a longer piece of string to the party popper string. move back and pull!. (whole bottle goes up)
