In this egg I will be showing you how to make cardboard tubes and end caps. These are a different kind then my paper tubes because A. The paper ones aren’t as strong and have to have quick burning powder in them to explode because the wall isn’t very thick, B. Because these have proper end caps(well not proper because you made them, but you catch my drift) and the wall is much thicker.
I advise you to use these tubes and end caps in an M-80 style because its better(for this setup)
What you need: Scissors(preferably small ones)
A ruler
Hobby Knife
2-3cm length of 13mm hose pipe
10mm dowel(any length, idealy more then about 10cm)
An item that fits flushly through your hose pipe. It MUST be as close to 13mm outer diamater as possible(I just used a fine tip artline pen)
Kraft paper(The longer it is the thicker the tube wall. I suggest 6cm high for the tube and 3cm high for the endcaps, so about 10x50cm)
PVA glue
A working space(Whats that I hear? Can I smell pizza? *sniffs* hmmm... Thats because my workspace is a clean pizza box :) )
Step 1 Get your kraft paper, ruler and hobby knife. Put your ruler lengthwise across the top of the paper so the outside is flush with the outside of the paper. Cut a 12cm long line next to the ruler, then cut downwards from the end of the line.
Step 2 Take the thin bit of paper you just cut off. Lay it down lengthways. Put your ruler down the side of it(ruler must be vertical) and have the left side of the ruler flush with the outside. Cut on the opposite side. Do this 3 more times you you have 4 bits of paper about 3x3cm
Step 4 Take one square of paper and put some glue on it.
Sandwich another piece of paper ontop of this. Do this until all the squares of paper are glued ontop of eachother.
Step 5 Get your 13mm hose pipe and put it on your workspace vertically so the hole of the pipe is at the top and bottom. Put the 4 sqaures of paper over the top of this and squish it in with your dowel.
Knock it on a hard surface a few times.
Step 6 Let it dry for 5 minutes. Pull the hose pipe off and you will have this
Take the paper off and it should look like this
Using the scissors(Duhhh) cut of the point bits until you have a flat edge at the top. Keep it as high as you want.
Step 7 Get your kraft paper and ruler. Mark with a small cut 6cm up the side(vertically). Do this about 1/4 the way in, then 1/2 the way in, 3/4 the way in and finally, the opposite end. Put your ruler across these lines and cut. You should have a piece of kraft paper 6cm high and however long you want(remeber, the longer the thicker)
Step 8 Wrap the paper around your 13mm(outside diameter) so you have about 1cm left.
Put a line of glue down the side.
Roll the last bit up and secure with a bit of masking tape.
Step 9 Put the end cap back on the end of the dowel and check that it fits in your tube, It will be fairly tight so don’t push it in too far.
Pull the end cap back out.
Step 10 Put down a small blob of glue and put your endcap on its side next to it.
Roll it through the glue then push it into the end of your tube.
This is your finished tube. Leave one end capped. Poke a hole through the side with a nail the size of your fuse. Put your fuse through then pour in your explosive powder. Put in abit of cotton wool if your powder does not reach within a cm of the top of the tube. Roll the other end cap in glue and push in. Wait for it to dry.

Aug 06, 2006 9:27 pm - WHAT THE FUCK? Not being biast or anything ebil, but you should look at these eggs. One has pics, right? The rest are just mumbo jumbo. shit. These ones look like proper and caps and what ever, Look at seventeen’s egg. theyre just wet paper.

Nov 29, 2006 4:32 am - the only thing about it is that you only glued the end of the paper for the tubes. you should put glue on all of the paper. because when it dries it will be rock solid with this idea. it was mentioned in phillydudes egg. you should try it
