i’m a life guard and i took a day off about a week ago so someone else filled in for me.
the next day when i got there the pool had a green tint in it. so i called up james(the first-timming sub) and asked him WTF! he said the chlorine pump was broken because when he did the readings on the levels it always showed 0. so like a fuckin dumbass he rolls the chlorine barrel over to the edge of the pool and busts open the cap and lets the chlorine ooze into the pool. he wasted the whole barrel which is like 50 gallons i think. so he checks it again and it still reads 0. now the way you check chlorine levels is to fill the small cylinder and put 5 drods of reagent#1 and reagent#2. he only used reagent#1 and without the other it just read clear(0). so the fuckin retard adds another half barrel and four acid bottle(for reasons i dont know) to the pool. this was tward the end of the day so there were no patrons there at the time. any patron in his right mind would have known better.
i know what he did because of the little chat we had over the phone after i did this.
i come back the next morning and i see the green and smell the chlorine. my first thought was algea. i checked the readings properly and the water turned from green to dark red. i had no idea what it meant because it shold turn pink. and it shouldn’t bee green. then my hand started to burn so i rushed to the hose and washed off. so i called Brenn (my manager) and asked her WTF? and she said to check it again with some special reagents that were in the shape of a magazine. it had a chemical on it that when dipped in pool water it will tell you what level of chlorine is in your pool that is above normal standards (which is 5). if you got one of those sheets and dipped it in pure chlorine it will read 100. the pool water was fuckin 77. i realize the danger and call Kenny(another manager) and ask him what to do. while im talkin to him out of nowere a teenager opens the gate and jumps in the pool.
he jumps back out in pain and i tell him to rinse off under the shower. good thing he didn’t open his eyes or go under. his suite was bleched pink and his leg hair turned a litlte greenish.kenny tells me to drain the pool so i do. the pool was closed and that guy went to the hospital for chemical burnes.
james got fired from his job and had to retake the trainning if he wanted it back.
oh and by the way, the reason the pump want working was because it was UNPLUGGED! how stupid can you get
