This is my first egg so I thought there\’d be no better ice breaker than a good drink-both straight up or with alcohol.
I came up with this during a contest at a local club where I sometimes bartend. The result is a fantastic frozen drink for adults (ladies love \’em) or a great pick me up drink that\’s cheaper than the commercial ones.
Ingredients:
1 can of powdered gator-ade (Glacier Freeze and Tropicial Berry are the favorites)
1 Box of green tea bags (Try to find \"Prince of peace\" green tea-cheap and tastes great. I found this at a Big Lots store)
Bacardi 151
Lime Juice
Sugar
We\’ll start with the energy drink and then I\’ll list what to add for the alcoholic frozen version.
Get a 1 gallon container. A washed out plastic milk jug works great. Use a funnel and add 2 heaping scoops of the powdered gator-ade (the scoop enclosed) and 1 cup of sugar. If you like things sweeter, add 1 & 1/2 cups of sugar and a mountain dew type soda.
After those are funneled in, fill the funnel with ice and pour 1/2 gallon of cold water in. Screw the top on and shake the hell out of it for a minute or two to dissolve the powders. Place this into the fridge or freezer.
Boil a 1/2 gallon of water and after it\’s boiling, add 8 green tea bags to seep for 5-6 minutes. Make sure it\’s not still on the burner. After 5 minutes, remove the tea bags and gently squeeze them dry into the tea. Now you see why generic green tea works-we\’re keeping the costs down.
Get the jug out, put in the funnel and slowly pour in the tea. It\’s going to be warm to hot after mixing, so I let it sit overnight in the fridge.
This is a cheap energy drink with all the benefits of green tea-helps clear toxins out of the body.
Now for the adult fun....
In a blender, add 2 ozs. of Bacardi 151, 12 ozs. of the mix and a 1/2 tsp. of lime juice (the lime juice helps mellow the rum\’s sting)
Add ice to top it off and blend until it\’s smooth.
Serve with a straw and one you love...lol
I served this on a Saturday \"Ladie\’s Night\" for the contest as a \"Frozen Bahama Bartender\" ( Florida, ya know?) and with 2 gallons of mix brought in, we ran out within an hour! It\’s a regular drink on ladie\’s nights now and has a great following. Most claim that they have little or no hangover the next day after getting drunk on this. Might be the green tea clearing out the alcohol overnight?
Anyways, as a cold energy drink that tastes great or a frozen drink for your \’ol lady and yourself, I hope y\’all enjoy it!
