Here are some helpful tips for beginner skimboarders, these are mainly for sand not waves.
Getting started
When you have purchased your skimboard and you are starting skimboarding it is important no know your surroundings, making sure there isn\\\’t any rocks in they way or other people.
Getting on the board
There are a few different ways of getting on the board : running with the board, then dropping it and jumping on, which probably gives you more speed or you can jus sit the board in the water and run and jump on - probably best for begginers getting their balance.
Tricks
There are many different tricks for skimboarding, just as there are different tricks for any other sport like skating or surfing.
Some of the more basic tricks would be the Shove It or the 360. The Shove It is quite an easy and popular beginner trick, to do a Shove It simply bend your knees while riding the board and then jump and kick the back end of the board out in front or behind so it spins 180 or 360 degrees keeping the board underneath you and then landing back on it and ride away. The 360 on the sand, this is a very easy trick. Whilst riding along bend down and put your back hand in the sand, jerking the board a little making you spin around as many times as you like.
