First off I’d like to say, this is the product of the power being out, and boredom. It’s not insanely well designed but it’s simple and works.
Materials:
Wooden Ruler(plastic ones are too flimsy, and I haven’t tried metal ones)
Binder Clip
Clothespin (not a school supply, but stfu it’s my egg)
Pen or Pencil
Paperclip
Rubber Band
Strong Glue
Step 1:
First things first. Find where you’re going to want your trigger with a fair amount of distance from the other end. The further back the more powerful. Also, I suggest you use a thin clothespin, or at least sand yours down otherwise it won’t be able to fire pencils like mine.
Step 2:
Second, put the binder clip on the opposing end of the clothespin. Put the pencil under the ruler but inside the binder clip.
Step 3:
Remove the prong thingy from the binder clip. Now insert the paperclip into the whole where the frongs were and wrap/bend them around the pencil ending in two loops.
Feel free to mess with which side the paper clip is on to see any difference in accuracy or power. Personally it’s more accurate but you don’t get any additional power.
Step 4:
This should’ve been part of the last step, but anyway string the rubber band on the two loops/bends in the paper clip so one part is underneath the binderclip and the rest is on top of the ruler.
Using Your Handy Dandy Weapon Against Boredom
Pull the rubber band back to the clothespin, then clamp it over the rubber band. Load something into the space right infront of the clothespin. Aim and release the clothespin to fire.
Here’s a video I was shooting a sharpie mini at the anti c/p sign I made. The tootsie roll container had a gym lock, a sock, and a giant bouncy ball inside.

 | Sep 07, 2006 2:02 am - I honestly don’t get it, this was posted a while back and everyone hated it for what ever reason...
Anyway 4* |

 | Sep 07, 2006 7:24 am - Mike, I was going to give credit to your egg for giving me the idea of using the clothespin but I’d forgotten who made the egg. |

 | Sep 07, 2006 3:19 pm - the pen does get deflected... i fixed this on mine by attach a 6-inch plastic ruler from the binderclip to the wooden ruler |

 | Sep 07, 2006 7:39 pm - on mine it doesn’t get deflected, because the rubber band is pulling it down at an angle, to make up for the upwards angle that hitting the binder clip does. |

 | Sep 07, 2006 8:50 pm - Nice egg 5* |

 | Sep 07, 2006 11:16 pm - 5* AND FAVES!!! |

 | Sep 08, 2006 4:35 am - This is a definite 5 for great pics and details on building and materials needed. Who said bored kids in school don’t learn anything? This is killer! |

 | Sep 08, 2006 8:54 am - This has been posted before so u get a 4* |

 | Sep 08, 2006 11:22 am - All the mini crossbows in the directory use a lot of tape. I personally don’t like using the stuff as much as those eggs tell you to. |

 | Sep 08, 2006 1:19 pm - Retard. Speaking as one who has been bow hunting and crossbow hunting since I was 7, you are a retard. Horrible design. I see this every single time people try to make a crossbow. THE STRING DOES NOT PROVIDE THE POWER! The bowstring does not strecth. The Limbs of the bow bend, which is what provides the actual power. Retard. |

 | Sep 08, 2006 4:42 pm - That’s because it’s not a real crossbow obviously. It’s a novelty type of weapon. You could build it in class, and shoot annoying people. If anyone was stupid enough to use it for hunting that’s their shame. If I was trying to create a classroom weapon that got it’s power from the limbs of the bow, then that’s what this egg would be about. But rubber bands are plentiful enough and much simpler then finding a strong and flexible material in school that won’t bend to far. (I’ve tried doubling paperclips, makes it stronger but it’s not near as powerful as anything with a rubber band).
But alas, it’s the internet, and you don’t like something I’ve put on it. and all I have to say to that is, k. |

 | Sep 09, 2006 10:25 pm - it does reflect off the binder clip... i fixed this problem on the one i made by taping a small 6-inch plastic ruler from the binder clip to the wooden ruler[b] |

 | Sep 26, 2006 10:04 pm - kool nice egg!!!!!!! ohh and 5 starz! | |
