How To Start Lucid Dreaming
Ok I have seen a few eggs on lucid dreaming, but they just say what it is really. This is how you lucid dream PROPERLY. For those of you who dont know what lucid dreaming is, its when you can controll your dreams and dream about what you want. It may take a few nights to get your dreams exactly on the mark, but once you do, you’ll be happy when you wake up every morning! The key to lucid dreaming is to become aware of the fact that you are in a dream. After this point, you can easily alter the dream to suit your desires. When you want to start lucid dreaming, think about it all the time. Read about it, constantly do reality checks, tell yourself over and over you want to wake up in your dreams etc.
1. Buy a small spiral notebook, set it close to your bed, and keep a pen close by.
2. Before you go to bed each night, write what you want to dream about in the notebook. (Be sure to label somewhere at the top!)
3. Read what you’ve written as many times as you need to get it in your head.
4. Lay down, relax, and think hard about what you want to dream about. Think of details, they are important!
5. Close your eyes, and look at the images from your dream as they appear in your subconcious. If nothing appears, read your dream again.
6. Think of dialogue and sounds in your dream until you are hearing them in your mind.
7. Think hard, but maintain a calm posture. Do not tense or anything. Just relax.
8. Go to sleep with these images and sounds in your head.
9. When you wake up, whether you had the right dream or not, write what happened parrallel or connected somehow to the dream that you wanted to have. (Again, label label!)
10. Compare the two dreams and think about the similarities and differences, write them if you want.
How To Know Your Dreaming: -Most people cannot read text in dreams. Try to read something; if it looks like gibberish you are in a dream.
-Look for unsual things eg. a dog walking on two feet reading a newspaper, or a flying elephant.
Tips: * Try to sleep in a quiet area with no distractions whatsoever.
* Play music associated with your dream quietly.
* Label everything!
* Remember details as they are important.
* Read your dream journal often.
* A good method to encourage lucid dreams is to get up a little earlier than usual, trot around the house for a bit, read, have a snack or whatever, then go back to sleep for a while. Also, having lots of small sleeps, or catnaps rather than one big 8 hour sleep is good.
* Try to affect your dreams subtly, rather than blatantly. This will make it easier to stay asleep.
Sep 09, 2006 9:53 am - well i know a technique to control your dreams which is look for your hands while dreaming, if you can see that body part you are pretty much done, its all based on mental stuff with your nuerons and all that stuff, learned it in bio ;) 4* though
Sep 09, 2006 12:28 pm - I can always tell that I am in a dream. I "learned" how to a year or two ago. Before that I was barely able to and I never did anything wrong, just incase I wasn’t in a dream. But now I can pretty much grasp it that I am in a dream and from all the storys I’ve read about lucid dreaming it seems like thats what I do almost every night =P.
Sep 09, 2006 1:38 pm - if you write what your remember last night in a journal, even if you remmeber no dream, you remember our dreams more often. try it!
Sep 09, 2006 3:45 pm - I find lucid dreaming is spontanious, and very hard to induce. (Sorry if someone’s already mentioned this, but I’m too lazy to read all the comments) 4*s.
Se 09, 2006 4:07 pm - I already know how to lucid dream. I usualy choose not to, since most often my non-lucid dreams tell mee stuff, like what to do, whats going to happen, and stuff like that.
5*
Sep 09, 2006 6:15 pm - Using the "Mantra" method to achieve lucid dreaming works. It does take practice, but you’ve steered them in the right direction.
Sep 11, 2006 1:45 pm - the first time i had a lucid dream it was like:
someone: ’hey, could you get some betonite for my pancakes?’
Me: ’ummmmm... why would you want betonite?’
guy: ’for a pancake!’
Me: ’holy fuck, i must be dreaming! And what was i going to do? oh yes, get betonite!’
Then i went off for betonite, end of my lucid dream... that sucked... It wasnt EXACTLY like that though
* Try to sleep in a quiet area with no distractions whatsoever.
* Play music associated with your dream quietly.
But still, 5*s, I usually fly or speed through water without needing to breathe when I’m lucid dreaming. I’ve almost gotten lucid dreaming down to an art, i do it probably 4 nights a week.
Somthing that I find helps with lucid dreaming is writing in a journal about it the next day, that way, your brain remembers the feeling and will allow you to do it again easier later.
Sep 15, 2006 4:58 am - This sounds awesome but unfortunately my imagination is crap and I don’t have recollections of dreams very often. Maybe when I can find the time to do this I’ll give it a go. 5*s ’cause this sounds cool and interesting regardless of whether or not it works.
Sep 16, 2006 8:40 am - really nice ***** i heard only a very small amount of the population can dream in lucid and some people pay alot of money 2 have lucid dreaming sessions under a kind off cat scan machine..you can also use this 2 get get rid off recuirring bad dreams by writing down in detail ur bad dream then changing it slightley to your needs everynight for a month..anyway good!
Sep 16, 2006 9:17 pm - you should try drinking at least a cup of pickle juice before bed and if u do u will have a complete dream but u can follow these instructions just add in the cup of pickle juice,i know it may seem nasty but if u do the acid will make your dream realistic then u can feel, taste, smell, see, and hear just like in real life.
