This is my first egg, and I know that there are similar eggs, explaining where to get potassium nitrate, but this egg will explain how to make Gunpowder using products that can be easily purchased from your Local Hardware store. (When I was searching for a recipe to make homemade gunpowder I never came across the eggs mentioned above, it was only until I googled Grant’s Stump Remover, that I discovered it/them.)
What you need:
-The standard formula for gunpowder is 75% Potassium Nitrate (KNO3), 10% Sulfur (S), 15% Carbon (C). At a Hardware store buy:
1. Grant’s* Stump Remover (Potassium Nitrate)
2. Grant’s* Sulfur Dust (Sulfur)
3. Charcoal or Powdered sugar (Charcoal works better) [Carbon]
4.¨ Hammer (or anything to smash stuff with)
5.¨ 2 Pie Tins (paper plates or anything you can the Stump Remover in works)
¨Depending on the Stump Remover. (Some are powdered, some are little balls)
*I find grant’s to be the easiest and most effective
How to make it:
1. Grind up the Stump Remover (If it isn’t powder): To do this get the pie tins, and put the Stump remover in one and cover the it with the other. Then get the hammer and beat it until it is finely ground. Grind as much as you need, but keep in mind that the formula calls for much more potassium nitrate the anything else.
2. Grind the Charcoal: Repeat step one using charcoal (If you are using powdered sugar there is obviously no need).
3. Mix the three ingredients together, by weight. (Again: 75% Potassium Nitrate, 10% Sulfur, and 15% Carbon.)
Testing it:
Once you have finished making your Gunpowder, its time to test/ fine-tune it.
1. Pour a little bit out for sampling at a time.
2. Light it. (If it doesn’t burn fast, then you either didn’t grind the ingredients well enough or there is not enough of any one ingredient.) If that is the case I suggest adding a little more stump remover. (I find this works effectively).
4. The best way to increase performance is to add gunpowder from bottle rockets, even firecrackers, etc.

ep 15, 2006 8:38 pm - arrgh good idea but just because you said first egg you lose point also you forgot to etion you can blow the shit up in ur face if u dont mix very slowly, the hammer is a VERY dumb thing to do
