This is something I’ve been meaning to do for a while now, but I have never got around to it. In this egg, I am going to teach you how to make a device you can use to set off your pyrotechnic devices at a certain time. First, you will need a kitchen timer like this.
Note:I don’t have a digital camera, so I couldn’t
take pics of me making this.
Other materials:
1.5v battery
small 1.5v lightbulb
Electrical tape
A light switch
3-4 meters of wire.
A lighter
Some conductive nails.
Some pliers
A small file
First, take the nails, and grip the head of one with the pliers, then heat for a while with a lighter. Push the pointy end into the top of the part of the kitchen timer that you grip to turn. Make sure the head is equal with the red arrow.
Now take another nail, heat it again, but push it into the red arrow.
Make sure that it will come into contact with the other nail when the timer reaches 0.
The nails must be perfectly straight, otherwise your timer will be a bit off. Now strip some wire and wrap it around each nail. Set this part aside for the moment.
Now take an electrical switch. One like these maybe?
Now attach one of the wires from the kitchen timer to one end of the switch. now attach the + side of the battery to the switch with some wire, and the negative side to the oppostite nail that you just attached the switch to. Now take a file, and very carefully file away the top half of the lightbulb. now tape two seperate parts of wire to the lightbulb. Now wrap the wire around the nails. And its done.
When you want to use it, set the timer, and flick the switch to on, and very carefully rest the lightbulb filament on your fuse.
This is my first egg. Sorry it’s a bit confusing, its 4am here. I spent 2 hours on this egg.
