Materials
• 3 cardboard tubes (prigles cans)
• 3/16 inch diameter drill bit
• tin snips
• file or sandpaper
• duct tape
• thin walled, 4 inch diameter pvc pipe as long as the 3 tubes (this will be the blast shield)
• Lighter fluid (Liquid)
• Tennis ball
• Wooden stick abuot 12’’ long and tin enough to fit into mortar
• Several bricks or large stones
• Long handeled lighter or fireplace match
•
Making the Mortar
• Take the pringles cans and clean them out.
• Take the can which will be your bottom tube and drill a 3/16’’ hole about 1 inch from the bottom.
• On the 2 nonbase tubes make a 2-1/2’’ diamerter hole (use tin snps or perforate with drill
• Sand the new holes with file or sandpaper
• Stack the tubes and duck tape them together make sure to tape the entire length of the tubes
• Cut the pvc to the right size then drill a hole in line with the hole in the bottom tube
without blast tube
Firing the Mortar
• Drip half a teaspoon into the bottom of the mortar
• Place the tennis ball in the mortar
• Press the tennis ball in place with the dowel
• Shake the mortar so the fluid vaporizes evenly
• Wait 20 sec (while you are waiting set up the mortar with the blast tube on it at about an 80 degree angle
• Light the vapor through the hole at the bottom
The tennis ball can fly up to 50 ft in the air and makes a very loud noise, watch out for cops.
