This is how to make those all too popular Globe avatar’s that I make on RE.
(Don’t think about making this an egg)
Anyway, the images are large so I linked them since BBCode resize didn’t work.
The not-so-big ones I’ll post.
Start out by filling in the dimensions for the animation (150x150 turns out to be about 75x75 when it’s done) Should be square or it looks ghey. Click ok.
Coloring the background
Set the background color by double-clicking it. Use the paint tool to paint layer on, making sure the opacity is at 100% and that it uses BG or FG color, whatever you prefer.
Adding and formatting text
Set the font size (in pixels) face, etc. The foreground color will be the text color.
You will be centering it in the next step.
Centering text and merging layers
Click on the "+" tool and center the text on the screen. Then, right click on the layers dialog and click "Merge Down."
This makes the image flat, not layered.
Animating and frame rate
Click "5cript-fu" - "Animators" - "Spinning Globe"
When the dialog pops up, there will be a frames textbox. 10 works, but looks very choppy, so use about 20 or 25 for a smoother animation.
Saving:
Make sure you add the ".gif" extension
Saving style:
Select "Save as Animation"
Final dialog (and picture):
100ms is a good rate for the frames, you can leave the comment or not, doesn’t really matter.
Click ok and your done!
