Pyrophorus is any compound that with rapidly oxides when it comes in contact with the air.
To day I am going to show you how its made:
Materials:
1tbs alum (found with the spices at your local grocery store)
1tbs flower (baking flower)
1tbs corn starch
pot or a test tube
heat source, Bunsen Burner, camping stove, or a hot plate
Process:
Step One: mix all of the ingredients in a covered pot or if you have one, a test tube. (test tube is the best)
Step Two: Then place the covered pot or test tube on your heat source.
Step Three: Wait till no more fumes/smoke come off the mixture.
Step four: Then take the pot/test tube away from the heat.
Step Five: Pore the powder into the air and watch as it combusts.
Step six: If your using a pot you basically can’t store the Pyrophorus, you must use it. If you have a test tube you can put a cork in the top and save it for later.
(Notes) This stuff isn’t explosive and its fire that it produces is much like a sparkler. I have had not the greatest results with the covered pot. The fumes that come off the mixture when your cooking it smell very bad. I don’t believe they are harmful, but just try not to breath them in. If your using a pot it may discolor it a but with soot. Dont do this inside your house, because it smells and could make the ceiling blackened. This stuff is fun! Go out and make it yourself!!!
(I have not copied this every word is my own, there is no other egg like this. I am not the inventor if this substance as it was originally made by a man named homburg it the 1800’s)

Ok does it have to be just tbs, or could you do like cups? Of course you’d need something big enough to cook it. Just wondering if the mixture will burn correctly with that much, or not. 5* |
