Me and my brother found this cave while biking off road in EP Tom Sawyer State Park, Louisville, KY.
The cave appears to have been made into some type of water reserve building, probably a very long time ago. Sometimes people would dam up a cave and allow it to fill with water, that way they would have a permanent source of water that they could pump from.
The cave isn’t very big, so this egg won’t be a very long exploration. However, the cave is still a pretty interesting place.
Check it out Here is a panoram of the entrance. I made it from 4 different pictures.
View from the front entrance
It’s time to head further inside. This torch is my only light source besides the flash on my camera. I made it from a sock that I found near the entrance.
A neatly dug out trench that carries a small stream of water outside of the cave. It is reinforced with bricks.
This is where the water exits underneath this wall.
That stupid torch was a bad idea. The smoke kept messing up my shots so I had to wait a while for it to clear.
The other side of the wall near the front entrance. To the left is a huge pile of unused bricks.
who the hell would bring a chair into such a disgusting place?
This was at the back of the cave. It is a tunnel that carries the water. I wonder if it leads to another cave room, or if it just remains as a crappy little tunnel.
A hole in the bricks
more brick structure inside of the cave
trash and bricks litter the floor everywhere
These pipes were probably used to carry the reserved water out of the cave to somebody’s house.
A hole in the actual cave wall
Look how old these bricks are
one last shot of the inside before I leave
now lets take a step outside. Here is the stream of water flowing outside and into another tube.
How about we check out this hole.
It appears to just be a smaller cavern that somebody attempted to block up
Maybe it does go farther back?
Well thats it. I’m not sure if I will ever go back to explore more of this cave because it was really muddy and nasty inside. I don’t have much desire to actually climb in there and crawl around.
Well I hope you liked my egg, because it took me a long time to make.
