Ok well I was looking over the fourms and I found the thing about the jewish potato pancakes. So this is my grandmas recipe. This is the german not jewish recipe.
Needed 2 eggs
1 onion that is finely grated
1 teaspoon of salt, adjust to your taste
1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg, yes the smokable nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon of pepper, again adjust to your tastes
5 potatos
2 tablespoons of flour, makes it fluffy
1/4 cup of oil
In a big bowl combine eggs, onions, salt, nutmeg and pepper and mix it very well. Then shred the potatos and quickly add them to the eggs to stop it from losing its fresh taste. Warm the oil in a medium size skillet to a slow simmer on medium. Put huge spoon fulls of potato into the oil and allow it to brown on each side for about 5 mins. You may also enjoy dipping or pouring apple sauce on them.

get rid of the nutmeg, pepper and onion, and serve them with chili or sour cram and sugar is yummy too!
