Original egg made by Australiano on the 28th of October

Okay. So you’ve heard that scootering is shit? Or you think everybody who scooters are fags? And that Skating is more extreme then scootering? You may think your right but I have news for you. Your not.

Scootering has been around for many years and has not been all that big but there are guys out there in the US and in Aus that are busting out huge backflips, No handed backflips and a tonne of other backflip combos, theres also a huge amount of other tricks that require skill and practice, just like skating does.

You may think that to Scooter, you don’t really need much skill. Wrong answer. Do not pass go and do not collect $200. To scooter you need alot of balance, Hand-eye co-ordination, Strength and you need lots of courage.

A few plus’ about scootering are
You may not think it but when scootering you use your arm and stomach muscles, without you knowing it.
You get to hang out with mates if you go riding with them
You get some really dank footage
If your a good scooterer, chances are you will be good at BMX
    Scootering IS relatively cheap
If people piss you off you can whack them in the shin with your scooter, that hurts like fuck

Some downsides
People will call you faggots, but chances are if you skate your used to that any way
    Bad bails = Broken bones
Tailwhipping and some other tricks if you get whacked in the shin it swells up alot(if your hit hard)

Okay, so you most probably didnt read that because its a fair bit of writing but now im moving on to the first installment of this series of eggs(No, dont give me shit about point whoring because this egg would be a mile long if I put them all in one)

In this egg I’ll be teaching you the names of the scooter parts and the different stances and how to push. With these basics you can ride around and get the feel of your scooter. But before that I should talk about pricing.

There are a range of different scooters, ranging from cheap shit ones that break after you do one trick on them, up to proper Pro models that are about $60USD.

The Better brands of scooters are Madd scooters, Blade scooters, and Razor scooters. Most riders tend to lean towards the Razors, as do I.

In America the Razor pro model would be the way to go for $60, but in Australia they are about $150, So if you live in Australia(like me) just go for the Razor New A, Unless you live in manly, then pop on down to Manly blades and pick one up(if you have the cash). If your a beginner just stick to razors, they are the most reliable scooters.

There are a range of different wheels too, the Stock razor wheels are fine for beginners, but if your getting into more jumps and tricks, go for the yak wheels. You can order them from many places online.

Now onto the parts of a scooter.

This is the front fork and wheel. Inside the wheel there are 2 bearings and a spacer, to stop it from wobbling.

This is the headset and headset cups. The black thing.
The cups are at the top and the bottom and instead of using stock headset cups and bearings, which may be slow after a while you can buy BMX headset CUPS and bearings. The forktube goes up inside this and attatches to the two nuts in the picture below.

Those are the nuts im talking about. To make your headset spin faster, making it easier to do some tricks you just have to unscrew the clamp(small black thing ontop of the nuts) and unscrew them, but lock them together.

This is the handlebar tube and handle bar stem. There is normally a clamping system around knee height but i have removed that and made them stock together. it is very easy to do but I will explain in my next egg.

These are the handlebars and the handlebar grips. All scooters come with foam grips but I choose to change them to BMX grips because I like it better. This will also be shown in my next egg.

This is the folding system, If you buy a scooter the chances are it will be rocky and rattle alot. I have made mine so you cannot fold it but it is a hell of alot stronger and doesn’t rattle or anything. This will also be explained in my next egg.

This is the deck, Most scooters(Except Razor pro) don’t come with full deck griptape. The majority of riders have full deck grip tape, this will also be explained in my next egg.

This is the rear wheel and brake. The rear axle in razors(except the Old A’s) have a longer back axle because of the dropouts(sides) so there is 2 spacers between the wheel and dropout. one on either side. The brake system is hard to explain, but is easy to figure out. Very hard to put the brake back on.

STANCES + PUSHING
There are many different stance but these are the basic 3. it is your choice of stance so ride with whatever you feel comfortable with.

This stance is regular, with your right foot at the back.

This is goofy, with your left foot at the back. I ride like this but it is your choice.

This stance is ski, the most whacked out stance to ride in. some people (including me) ride ski to do manuals and to do some tricks.

PUSHING
Pushing on a scooter is just like pushing on a skateboard. put your front foor just behind the folding mechanism and your back foot on the ground, on the side that feels most comfortable. Push like you would on a skateboard by using your back foot to push you forward. It is very simple

This concludes Part 1 of the scootering egg series, this will give you the parts of the scooter and how to push. Chosing your stance is up to you. Using this information Get a good scooter(unless you already have one) and start riding around your house, to get the feel of it. Stay tuned for Part 2.

Sorry about the length.
