The Thieves Eggs
In these eggs I am going to attempt to cover a wide range of subjects concerning thieving and breaking and entering. However when I was writing the egg It ended up a huge read, and most people would no doubt skip parts, So I decided to break It up into sections, and cover each section in another egg. That way I can add more sections aswell.
Now, onto the egg.
This Thieves Egg is on "Location and Padlocks". I will run through how to bypass padlocks in several different methods, and will describe some good locations to go hunting in.
Knowing where to go to get what you want is completely essential. Lets say you wanted a new I-pod/mp3 player. Where would you go to steal one? Now most people would instantly think...
however stealing from people is allot easier sometimes. Ie: If you are still at school, think just how many lockers there are...
now each one may have something extremely valuable to you in it, or just a bit of crap. Either way, It only took 3 seconds to get in to the locker, so whats it matter? This brings us on to location one
- Schools-
Schools are a damn gold mine. One good day in school and you could aquire so much goods that your set for the year. If you strike at exam times, you could make a fortune.
Now, onto the first method.
-The Screwdriver-
Tools Needed:
Flat headed screwdriver, reasonably thin, but strong.

You may want to beat the hell out of the tips with a large flat headed hammer, that way they get a little thinner, and you get a wider head.

This is my most disliked of all the methods, as it is messy, time consuming and is just not cool.
So anyway, here is the kind of lock you are most likely to see every day at school or wherever there are lockers (not the brand, the style) -
Now get the screwdriver and slide it 3cm max in here:
The front disk should begin to pry off a little. Now its just a case of moving in a clockwise direction ALL they way around the disk doing the same thing untill it pops off. Once Its off I really dont need to describe what to do. Trust me....theres not much left once your inside, these things cost like 2cent to make.
I really dislike this method though, its completely amateur, and requires no skill what so ever. Its only good If you have no other tools, have no chance of anyone seeing you, and dont have to worry about time.
The next method
Padlock shim:
Now, a padlock shim is just another way of bypassing the lock, it can be done in around 2 seconds once you have a good shape and technique.
This is very easy to make once you know how, so im going to try and be as clear as possible. Trust me, once you have made one, you will never need to look at this egg again.
Materials/Tools:
Can of soda/beer(preferably beer)
Scissors, sharp, no safety, no too big either. These basically.
A marker pen, thin nibbed.
Ruler.
You may want a pair of like gardening gloves or something, so you dont slice your hand open.
Step One:
Right. Get your beer can, the reason I asked for a beer can as a preference to a soda can is because the metal they are made from is slightly stronger. But a soda can work aswell. Just wont last aslong and stands a chance of breaking in the lock (YOU DO NOT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN!!) Anyways, get your can and your scissors.
Poke a hole in the can just under the angled bit at the top and proceed to cut the top off the can. Once done, do the same with the bottom. so that you are left with a nice shiny rectangle.....you may want to give it a clean. We will be working on the silver side by the way.
Trim away any rough edges, try and get it as even as possible, a nice symetrical rectangle is what you want, for your first time try to make it 6 inches wide, maybe 6inch 3 mm to compensate for trimming and errors.
Step Two:
Assuming you have a nice even rectangle now, you are going to want to get your marker pen and mark a line, one inch from the left, then two inches from the left, then 3, thn 4, right up to the end. Do the same on the bottom, and then join them up using your ruler and marker. All you are doing is slicing up the rectangle into one inch wide strips. Now measure half way down the sheet on both sides and mark it, now draw a horizontal line connecting them. Sorry about that explanation, its allot simpler than I made it sound....i’ll include an image to help.
This is what your sheet of metal should look like after you have completed step two.

Now cut allong the lines and you’re ready for step three.
Step Three:
Now, get one of your One inch by 3 inch strips of metal. Take your pen, and draw a line lengthwise allong the middle of the sheet. Then divide those two halfs again. Basically, you are drawing 3 lines in order to divide the sheet up into four sections....again the image will make it all more clear.
This is what ONE strip of metal (one inch by 3 inch) should look like on completion of Step 3.
I forgot to metion that you will need to add a line vertically in the middle, this is to act as a guide for step 4 onwward. Just a straight dotted line through the vertical middle.
Step 4
Right, now’s where it gets a bit weird. You are gonna have to draw an "m" shape eventually...sort of.
Ok, lets begin. Make a dot about a quarter of the way along on the bottom two lines, on both sides.

Now that you have that, you are going to have to draw the curve of the "M". Instead of describing this, il leave it to the image. Just one point, make sure that it is a CURVE at the bottom, not a straight point, otherwise your shim will break in the lock.

Now, thats you done with step 4. (Dont worry, that was the hardest step)
Step 5:
Now you’re getting to see why I chose to break up my guides into a few eggs....
Right, in this step all you have to do is trim away the metal we dont need anymore. Cut out everything in white in the image below. Make sure you cut a nice smooth rounded curve.

Right, now your gonna have to start folding. Im going to number the lines to make it easier. The top black line in the images is line one, the next one down is two, and the last one is three.
You are going to need to fold your shim at line three, so that one section of the other side of the can is now showing....sorry bout the image, the red is supposed to be the other side of the can.

Turning from This: To This:
Fold Two.
Your gonna need to fold the little wings on the side of the "M" up so they overlap the previous fold...
Fold Three.
Now continue to fold those little flaps over so that you end up with this shape. Creating a very nice round handle for you.
Thats you done with the folds and that step.
Step 7
Right, the easiest step. Shaping. All you have to do is get your pen and curve the shim round it so that it looks like this.
Easy
Right, I know that was a long read, but I tried to be as helpfull as possible, seeing as these are so damn usefull. I’m going to give you a break here, so you can look at what you have just made and how usefull they are.
Now, just incase the video went to fast for you, all you need to do to use your shim is wrap it round the LEFT bar of the padlock, push it down, twist and done.
Its that easy.

Now, for those lockers that open via a key on the door, as aposed to a padlock, they are slightly more difficult, but only slightly. They need to be picked. This egg is getting dangerously long, so I will Post that in another Egg and end this one shortly.
Now that you know how to open the padlocks used on damn near every locker in America, I say its time you went out and found yourself some good locations.
Heres some suggestions, the rest you do on your own. Always keep a flattened shim in your walet, between two bank cards or something, just incase you see someone put something very nice in a locker.
1. Schools.
This applies to ones below
(weekdays are lesss busy, so less likely to be seen, but less shit to steal)
2. Gyms.
3. Swimming pools.
4. Amusement Parks.

I dont see how this egg falls into any of the banned categories...why would this get dropped?
