Ok to start off I once had an idea of trying to make a nickel the size of a quarter so that it would go into vending machines. So I tried squishing a nickel in a Vice... it didn’t do anything. So then I thought of hitting it with a hammer, it worked! So now I had a nickel the same size as a quarter. as seen in the picture below
So I go to school the next day and put it into one of the drink machines, it just comes right back out of the coin slot! Well I was mad but I was kind of expecting it not to work since it took me like one minute to make. So I just decided to keep the flattened nickel. Well I go to my third period class and my teacher has the kind of machine where it holds candy and you put the quarter in the slot and then turn the knob. Like the one below
so I tried it and it worked... I wasn’t too surprised though because the machine just senses metal, so now when your kid is whining because he can’t get a toy just give him a smashed nickel.
I know this seems really stupid I mean it’s just a quarter! but on those machines where you have to put in like 3 quarters, I would much rather buy a drink with $.75 than a stupid toy, but getting a $.75 cent item for $.15, I think that it would be worth it, Especially if it has cool stuff in it like laser pointers.

Nov 15, 2006 7:03 pm - is this not illegal because a) your defacing currency wich can be seen as a terrorist plot and b) if it is legal to alter it its probably highly illegal to use it and c) get a washer the same size and it works just as good and buy in bulk ;) 5*
